It was an unforgettable and wonderful experience to me. The highlight of the trip was camping
in the Nitmiluk National Park. We became guests to the lovely
wallabies and other animals’ home. I highly appreciated the peaceful relationship among
the Aussie, animal and the environment. The Katherine camping trip is a beautiful
memory in my exchange student journey definitely. Thank you all for creating such amazing trip.
- Sarah
Residents ventured out to camp at Katherine Gorge & Edith Falls. A cruise along the Gorge, numerous tourist destinations & a visit to Nitmiluk - they did it all.

The trip to Katherine was amazing, especially the swimming in Edith Falls. There we swam in the stream of the river, enjoying the cool water in a hot environment. The other highlight was the Katherine Gorge cruise that offered beautiful colours, fresh water crocodiles and fascinating
stories about the Jawoyn culture. The trip peaked in another beautiful swimming place near the Katherine River ideal for a relaxing break before the boat went back to the starting point.

a showcase oF talent
Like moths to a flame, IHD’s Got Talent attracted the performances of our talented residents. The night’s overall winners were Augusto, Leo and Mimi with their rendition of Sia’s Titanium, followed closely by Jean-Philippe tickling the ivories with Amelie’s Waltz. In the end, the judges awarded two entrants with third prize, as it was too close to call; Tommy dancing to Bruno Mars’ Chunky and Srijana dancing to Choli Ramro.
Performances of the night included an original song titled 109 by Jonah, Sonia playing the ukulele and singing Band Perry’s If I Die Young, and Reuben and Jonah, singing with guitar, Johnny Cash’s Ring of Fire.
Congratulations to all entrants of IHD’s Got Talent. Now’s the time to prepare
for the Semester 2 comp!

About the performing art committee, our goal is to encourage high engagement, create fun and enjoyable events for residents. We encourage residents to be a part of the event planning, to
brainstorm ideas of events, to showcase their talents in the talent show.
We organised a karaoke night and a talent show so far. And we would like to put on more events. We have an idea to do a cultural fashion show at the end of semester party, but we need to come out with a plan. Also, we thought of doing a paint night at some point (we’re not sure about this yet).
We look forward to recruiting more people, collecting ideas and putting up more events in the future.
Our events are fun and entertaining. We also provide food (or snacks) and drinks. It’s a good chance to meet people, to have a break from study, to relax and have some fun. For our committee
members, they can contribute to the event planning, be creative, and gain experience in this process.

Saturday, 29 April Chinese Dumpling NightDid someone say food? Join your neighbours and learn to make dumplings; a staple food popular throughout China.
These common frogs are found in forests throughout northern and eastern Australia and New Guinea. They cope very well around people and can often be found hiding in toilets.
They aren’t very good jumpers, but are excellent climbers, using their sticky fingers and tummy to climb steep and slippery surfaces.
Issue 77 March 2017
They are also called the dumpy frog because when they are overweight, layers of fat grows on top of their head and body making them look dumpy.
Green Tree Frogs sometimes sit beneath outside lights at night to catch insects that are attracted to the light, but they are also capable of taking larger prey on the ground, including mice. They have also been recorded catching bats around cave entrances.
A Green Tree Frog can live up to 20 years.
Make sure you follow our Facebook page, closed group and Instagram to share the memories!

Take care of yourself and...seek knowledge, not results
If you focus on the excitement of discovery, improving, exploring and experimenting, your motivation will always be fueled. If you focus only on results, your motivation will be like weather—it will die the minute you hit a storm. So the key is to focus on the journey, not the destination. Keep thinking about what you are learning along the way and what you can improve.
Take care of yourself and...take 5 minutes to exercise!
