FOR PERFORMANCE, ECONOMY,DURABILITY IN THE

0,0It's a more powerful version of the famousInternational B-275 Diesel engine thatpowers the new TD-5. All-weather electricstarting with battery-operated glow plugsmakes starting easy—even in the coldestweather.

1 Pressure lubricated rocker arm for smoothperformance and long life.

2 High operating pressure pintle-type nozzlesslash maintenance costs by preventing carbonbuild-up.

3 Pressurized cooling system with forced positivecirculation by belt driven pump. Thermostatassists fast warm-up and maintains ideal oper-ating temperature.

4 International indirect injection type engine de-velops ample lugging power because pre-combustion chamber design gives complete fuelair mixing for clean, controlled and more com-plete combustion.

5 Pre-combustion chamber mounted glowplugsassist fuel atomisation for the surest all-weatherstarting.

6 Five-ring pistons provide combustion-tight sealfor economical running. Top compression ringis chromed for long life.

7 Easily replaceable wet sleeves provide full-length water jacket for even dissipation of heat.

8 Five main bearing tocco-hardened crankshaftensures long and dependable life. The shaft isdynamically balanced for vibration-free per-formance.

9 "Chill" hardened and ground cam faces providelong life and ensure silent operation for valvelifting mechanism at all engine operating speeds.

10 Oil pump provides continuous pressure to allshell bearings and rocker arm mechanism."Full-flow" lubrication ensures clean filteredoil for circulation to bearings.

11 Floating gauze screen follows oil level to pro-vide positive lubrication at whatever angle thetractor is working.

This simple, direct crawler designed power train is ruggedlybuilt from the engine right through the final drive, todeliver profitable working horsepower at the tracks whereyou want it . . . need it. Gears, shafts, bearings and hous-ings are all made to take the shocks and strains of hardgoing crawler operation.

Here's the efficient power train combined with 5speed transmission (10 with TA) that gives yououtstanding lugging ability plus more workinghorsepower on the drawbar for every ounce offuel consumed.

III Single-disc, dry-type clutch has a 10 inch diameterand is pressurized by 9 tough and heavy springs. This clutch disengages with easy foot-pedal actionand always engages smoothly. Adjusting yokefor free pedal travel is easily accessible on out-side of housing.

■ Selective Sliding spur gear transmission withfive forward and one reverse speeds permit youto match engine power to load and field condi-tions for maximum work output. All shafts inthis transmission rotate on high capacity pre-cision ball and roller bearings. A strong, one-piececase keeps gears in perfect alignment and alsoserves as a reservoir for the hydraulic oil. Gearsare heat-treated and have a tough core formaximum shock resistance. Torque amplifier isavailable to double the number of speeds avail-able and boost pull power up to 45% .

■ Smooth running drive pinion and ring gear teethare spiral-cut to increase the area of tooth con-tact and assure ample strength to absorb shockloads. Tapered roller bearings carry the assemblyfor smooth power transmitting efficiency. In thelower picture note the sturdy pto drive mountedfront and back in ball bearings.

II Husky multiple disc steering clutches and steer-ing brakes give you instant response for positive, accurate control plus those pivot turns everyfarmer needs in a crawler. No other crawler givesyou such easy servicing accessibility . . . steeringbrakes can be adjusted in minutes while a com-plete unit may be changed and adjusted in lessthan an hour. It's another IH exclusive featurethat makes these new crawlers more profitableto operate.

Tough heavy duty bull gears mounted ond tapered roller bearings carry hard working powerto the drive sprocket. This entire assembly islocated inside the track frame for that CLEANunder-body clearance only a new IH crawlercan give you.

Right through from front to back

. . . from track to track there are no

under-body obstructions. Final drive

Whether it's the 4 or 5 roller model, you can select the track gauge mostsuitable to your work. You may alsoselect 10", 12" or 14" track shoes ina wide variety of designs. For 38 "gauge crawler 10 " shoes onlyare supplied.

Plenty of Crop ClearanceClean, obstruction free under-body gives you the clear-ance you need to work above many crops or high trashyet still retain that low silhouette for orchard jobs.

Four or Five Roller TrackFour roller tracks will handle just about all the work onyour farm but where extra stability is required forheavy front loader jobs the tractor can be readilyequipped with a five roller track frame.

Adjustable FramesRigid type track frames are bolted to the main framein a way they may be moved back or forward from theirnormal position, making the tractor particularly adapt-able to front or rear mounted equipment. The frontidler may also be lowered from its normal position togive greater track contact with the ground.

NOW You Can Have 3-POINT HITCH

or SWINGING

DRAWBAR

OR BOTH

You'll hitch implements fast . . .maintain complete control for allkinds of work . . . when your IHCrawler Tractor is equipped withthe hydraulically operated 3-pointhitch. As optional equipment tothe regular swinging drawbar itwill handle all your category 1, 3-point implements. Both hitchesmay be mounted on the tractor atthe same time without interferingwith each other.

DRAWBAR EXTENSION

A swinging drawbar extension is available forthe crawler tractor equipped with either thestandard (live), or constant running powertake -off.

Depth Control and WeightTransfer

International Harvester's speciallydesigned 3-point linkage is tele-scopically designed with compen-sating springs that hold yourground working tools to a constantdepth.

Here's the 7-foot 3-point hitch C-920 Harrow working withthe TD-5. This hitch is also available for the T-4 and T-5and will handle all Category 1 implements.

Made of the toughest steel to take the heavy and prolongedstrains of rough field work, the swinging drawbar hitch isstandard equipment.

The More You Use TA —The MoreYou Appreciate ItYou'll use it on heavy work . . . save time andmoney with its on-the-go increase in pull-power.You'll find it invaluable with all power-driven ma-chines—just pull the lever, slow down one-third tohandle crops without slowing pto speed.

When you hit a tough spot and there's danger ofstalling out or shifting down, just pull the TA lever.Pull power is increased up to 45% . You breezethrough the heavy going without a pause. ReleaseTA when you're past the tough going and you'reback in regular gear. However you farm, TA helpsyou do more every hour, every day, easier thanever before.

You get twice as many speedswith Torque Amplifier-10 for-ward and two reverse—to giveyou the just right pace forevery job and condition. Withthis wide choice of speeds, andthe on-the-go speed change,TA lets you work faster, do upto 15% more every day.

Just push or pull the handy lever for thepowerful, fast acting hydraulics that give instant, precise remote control for operating your trail-behindimplements or three-point hitch tools. A pressureloaded gear type pump provides positive acting hy-draulic power for raising, lowering and adjusting

working depth anytime the engine is running.A four position valve with a single control lever

is used in conjunction with the three point hitchsystem, whereas a three position valve, also with asingle control lever is used when the tractor is equippedwith the remote control system. A combination valvewith two control levers is available for operating boththe three-point hitch and the remote control systemsfrom the same tractor.
