Edition 2012 of the festival

Organized in collaboration with the Board of Montréal Museum Directors (BMMD),the AVICOM Committee’s 2012 Conference was hold in Montreal, Canada fromOctober 9–12, 2012 at the Canadian Centre for Architecture (CCA), during theAVICOM Committee’s annual meeting. The Topic of the edition 2012 is: thedevelopment of new technologies and of new trades of museology.

The symposium was the opportunity to listen to presentations by specialists innew technologies of sound and image. Coming from various countries, they workfor museums, create educational programs or responsible for heritageinstitutions. Others are producers or try to predict the future of technologicaldevelopment.

Considerations on “current reality and ethical positioning”, the conferenceproposed to draw a parallel between the evolution of the practice of certain tradesof museology and collectively ; it allows to start a reflexion on the implications ofthese practices as regards to new quasi obligatory partnerships between theprivate sector and the public one, the contents and the container.

This symposium was followed by the results of the competition of the "FestivalInternational de l'Audiovisuel et du Multimédia sur le Patrimoine" (FIAMP). Theofficial Selection selected in the category “audio-visual” 14 short film, 6 medium-length film, and 1 full-length film; in the “multi-media” category 2 CD-ROMs, 6websites, 6 programs online, and 22 terminals and applications; and 6 programsin the “new museography” category...http://network.icom.museum/avicom/fiamp-festival/official-selection/L/10/
