application, including information on your academic

and extracurricular accomplishments, financial

background*, essays, short answer questions

A letter of recommendation from a teacher in a core

academic subject

A high school transcript and additional transcripts (if

applicable.)

Any standardized test score reports to-date. We

accept PSAT, SAT, PLAN, ACT, Subject Tests, IB, or AP

test scores. SAT and/or ACT test scores are

recommended.

General Eligibilty (See website)

• Be a high school senior

• Be younger than 21 years old

• Be eligible to attend a two- or four-year college,

university or technical school with a full course of

study

• Be a legal U.S. resident

• Live in a participating RMHC Chapter's geographic

area

• Submit a complete application and all required

documentation by the deadline of the application

• Meet any additional eligibility requirements

outlined by each scholarship program

• Provide verification of enrollment each year at

respective accredited post-secondary institution

Requirements

• Must be Black/African American.

• Must excel academically.

• Must exhibit exceptional leadership potential.

• Must participate in community service activities.

• Demonstrate financial need.

• Be a US citizen or hold a permanent resident visa

card.

• Be a current high school senior at the time of your

application. NOTE: Current college students are not

eligible to apply.

This scholarship will be awarded to first-generation*

students who are enrolled in an Associates, Bachelor

or Graduate degree program at a Hispanic Serving

Institution for the 2014-15 Academic Year.

Additionally, applicants must meet the following

criteria, and will be asked to provide supporting

documentation to verify the requirements are met.

• Enrolled Full-time* in the Spring 2015 semester

(copy of class schedule)

• Pell-eligible (undergraduate applicants only) (copy

of your award notice for Spring 2015)

• Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher (copy of your

current transcripts)

*neither parent has obtained a four-year college

degree

*Undergraduate level applicants: FT= 12 or more

credits. Graduate level applicants: FT= 9 or more

credits.

• Be an Illinois resident attending a college or

university located in the state of Illinois.

• An undergraduate and graduate student enrolled

full-time for the Spring 2016/Fall 2016 semester at

an accredited college or university located in the city

of Chicago.

• High School Students not eligible, must have

earned a minimum of 12 credit hours at a college or

university at the time the application is submitted.

• Must register as a full-time student for the Spring

2016/Fall 2016 semester.

• Be in good academic standing with a cumulative

GPA minimum of 2.50 on a 4.00 scale.

• Should demonstrate leadership through

community involvement either on and/or off

campus.

• Must demonstrate financial necessity.

Requirements

• Be a graduating high school senior who will be

attending a four-year bachelor’s degree program in

the fall of 2015

• Have an overall grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or

higher on a 4-point scale (or equivalent)

• Demonstrate financial need

• Provide most current documentation of an

identified learning disability

• Please Note: Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity

Disorder alone is not considered to be a learning

disability; eligible candidates with AD/HD must also

provide documentation of a specific learning

disability.

Be a United States citizen

Graduating high school seniors admitted to attend

college or current college students enrolled in an

accredited institution of higher education.

These students are chosen based on their academic

performance, financial need, and commitment to

community service.

The scholarship is open to Latino students in the City

of Chicago, regardless of immigration status.

Registered undergraduate full-time Juniors or Seniors

at accredited four-year colleges or universities in the

United States during the Fall 2014 Semester.

Entrant must be in the 11th or 12th grade.

Engineering or Math related majors

• Applicants must have an overall grade point

an accredited 2-yr or 4-yr college/university in the

U.S. or its territories.

• Applicants must be of Hispanic origin and/or must

significantly participate in and promote organizations

and activities in the Hispanic community
