ZAWP stands for Zorrotzaurre Art Work in Progress, a movement born in 2008 to face the meanwhile of the approved urban plan for the Ribera de Deusto and Ribera de Zorrotzaurre neighbourhoods. From culture and creativity, we move under the circumstance of neighbourhood in transit working on revitalizing the place where we live, creating in its broadest sense and enhancement of our history.

INTERNATIONA PROGRAM OF ZAWP RESIDENCES

ZAWP Bi lbao opens res idency for pro jects of invest igat ion and product ion

OBJECTIVES To encourage experimentation, production and investigation in different areas of creation and to contribute to the promotion of the creators and an international movement of culture professionals. In addition, the objective is to foment and drive projects based in the area that could enrich and add value to it through a flexible, multidisciplinary workspace. Lastly, the objective is to support and stimulate the economy. TYPES OF RESEDENCIES 1. Self-financed Residencies (A1) 2. Residency grants for investigation and production: B1, B2, B3 DIRECTED TOWARDS The summon is directed towards collectives, consultants, cultural producers and invigorators, associations, researchers, artists, social scientists, architects, teachers… individual creators or collective creators whose objective is the production and investigation of what could be a small step in cultural, artistic, and social knowledge. Applicants can apply individually or collectively, in which case a representative must be appointed. HOUSING LOCATION / STUDIO \Place: ZAWP Project, in Bilbao, specifically in the neighborhood of Ribera de Deusto, composed of different industrial spaces recovered for creative and productive use. Characteristics: The residence develops from ZAWPLab, a space formed by various think-cubes to offer temporary housing and spaces for intensive work:

- Individual resting module - Kitchen - Shared bathrooms - Washer and dryer - Wi-Fi

Depending on the discipline and the needs of the project in the residency it is possible to use the different spaces of ZAWP:

SELF-FINANCED RESIDENCIES (A) : DEFINITION The self-funded residencies, although not coinciding with the principle objectives of ZAWP, are those proposals that are designed to enrich and are interested in the framework of artistic, cultural or scientific investigation and production. PROVIDED BY THE ORGANIZATION Specified on pages 1 & 2 PROVIDED BY THE CREATOR Housing and Workspace, with access to the rest of the spaces:

- 27 euros per day - 171 euros per week - 320 euros for two weeks - 450 euros for three weeks - 540 euros per month

Travel, meals, and insurance if necessary

RESIDENCY GRANTS FOR INVESTIGATION AND PRODUCTION

DEFINITION ZAWP gives grants to ideas or projects that coincide with some of its objectives: creation for urban transformation, historical recollection, or prototypes for urban revitalization. DISCIPLINES Architecture, urbanism, urban intervention, new economics, resonant art, historical recollection, new technologies, trans media languages, interactive art, new mediums, education and sustainability, with special attention for the disciplines that are disruptive seeds in the ecosystem. DURATION Up to 8 weeks REQUIREMENTS Have training and/or experience in the field that the project encompasses. Only one application may be sent for each program. The project should end with a demonstration, prototype or publication. There is preference to those projects that have in mind some of the following parameters:

- Those that serve the neighborhoods of Ribera de Deusto y Zorrotzaurre and/or ZAWP - Those that try to connect with other ideas, languages, disciplines and projects - Those that are supported by an exchange program - Those that contribute to the creation of employment and foment business ventures - Those that have transforming elements. - Those that give value to education as a cross-curricular subject - Those with a worldly character

FILING OF APPLICATIONS AND NOTIFICATION OF CONCESSION Applications can be submitted throughout 2014. Within 15 days after the request, applicants will receive an approval or denial. The beneficiaries have to then communicate their acceptance within a period of ten days. If the beneficiary rejects, offer will be proposed to the first on the list of alternates. GROUNDS OF ACCEPTANCE The participation in this summon assumes the acceptance of the grounds and resolution of the project and any changes, uncontrollable by ZAWP, that could occur later.

ZAWPLAb Location: Ribera de Deusto 47 Description: ZAWPLab is a place dedicated to laboratories, residences and rooms that channel valuable work, research and creative experimentation based on transformation. Size: 10 workspace modules of 15m2 each and in a pavilion of 300m2 Other characteristics: Rest areas, work spaces, office (microwaves, kitchen, refrigerator…), dining room, bathroom (sink, shower, toilet), heating, hot water, Wi-Fi, and alarm system.

COWORKING SPACE Location: Ribera de Deusto 47 Description: ETC02 is an old industrial pavilion of 250m2 adapted and restored as a place to produce, develop and share ideas or artistic, creative, and innovative projects in a shared workspace. Size: 250m2 Other characteristics: Open space, 2 storehouses, meeting room, bathroom (sinks, shower, toilet), heat, Wi-Fi, and alarm system.

LA HACERIA Location: Ribera de Deusto 42 Description: hACERIA aretoa, since its foundation 17 years ago, is a multipurpose space used for creation and exhibitions. In the past it was part of a large sawmill. This space was the first project of the Association.

hACERIA aretoa is the base of many differently themed clubs including theater, jazz, flamenco, and English all occurring on different days of the week whose aim is to spread and generate educative and playful programs in the spirit of the association. Size: 120m2 Other characteristics: Performance lighting and sound, a bathroom (sink, shower, toilet), hardwood floors, a bar and Wi-Fi. Capacity: 70 people seated or 100 people standing

GARABIA Location: Ribera de Deusto 47 Description: this space has been recovered as a multipurpose space dedicated to specific creation and to exhibitions of any discipline. This space is available to residence projects and for specific needs.

Garabia ZAWP aretoa can host activities of diverse natures like: exhibitions, conferences, workshops, show rooms, acts and concerts.
