'INTERIOR DESIGN EDUCATORS COUNCIL RECOGNIZES LEADERS The first IDEC members recognized as Fellows of the Interfor Design Educarors Council (FIDEC) were tapped at the IDEC Annual Con- ference in Banff. Board Chairman, Ben Gunter, Virginia Commonwealth University, and President Curt Sherman, Washington State University identified the following members who had been singled out for the honor by the IDEC Board. Anna Brightman, FIDEC, University of Texas - Austin, Chairman of the Interior Design program. t Dr. 3rL&htr,an has beer, vice president and president as well as Chair- mas cf the- 3oard of IDEC. A leader in the development of Intericr Desigr, D.ccraditation, beginning with membership on the joint committee on aczrc-ditazion in 1968. the Board of the Foundation for Interior Design Education Research. Historic research and historic preservation are among her major inter- ests as an Interior Design educator. She presently serves as an IDEC Trustee on Arnold Friedmann, FIDEC, University of Massachusetts - Fine Arts Center - Amherst, Chairman of the Interior Design program. Professor Arnold Friedmann has served IDEC in every capacity; out- standing in his 'Critical Study of Interior Design Education' which identified the need for standards, the study which led to the develop- ment of such standards, and further to the development of FIDER and NCIDQ. He has authored several books in the Interior Design field which are major contributions in Interior Design education. Richard A. Rankin, FIDEC, University of Kentucky - Lexington - Chairman of the Department of Human Environment, Design and Textiles. Professor Richard Rankin has served IDEC as secretary-treasurer, president, and Chairman of the Board. He has served as an IDEC Trustee member of the FIDER board, and is the immediate past Chairman of FIDER, having served 8 years as an IDEC representative. of IDEC he has made major contributions in the development and implementa- tion of standards through the FIDER accreditation processes. Educator and designer, he is also very active in historic preservation and restoration. the official publication of IDEC. She has been editor of the journal since its first publication. An author and meticulous researcher, Dr. Rogers is a leader in education and an IDEC member of FIDER committees since its founding.

At its recent annual meeting in Banff, the Interior Design Educators Council announced new Honorary Members to the Council.

Such membership is open only to those outside the field of education who have made outstanding contributions ot the field and who have supported interior design education.

Those honored by IDEC were:

Olga Gueft: Len Corlin: editor of Contract (on staff since 1967) Sherman Emery: editor of Interior Design 1962 to present.

Each of the above has honored IDEC by acceptance of membership in the organization. *
