FPC Annual Chili Cook-Off

This year our Chili Cook-off teams outdid themselves!

As always, it was great fun to see the teams that en-tered the cook-off, as the smell of fierce competition was in the air (and the lingering smell of onion on the following Monday morning).

The team that placed first were The Basso Boyz (appropriately named as they all sing bass in the FPC Choir). Congrats on the prize-winning batch.

The second place win-ners were the Disciple-

ship Sunday School class, The Thundering Herd.

And last but not least, the third place winners were also represented by our FPC choral talent, The Noteworthies.

At the end of the day, however, the youth of FPC were the real winners, thanks to the hospitality of so many. They were able to raise over $5,000 for their mission trips this sum-mer. This couldn’t have been done

without the outpouring of love, support, and well… chili.

CERI Hats and Scarves

The Mission Sewing Circle is

about to celebrate it’s tenth

anniversary partnering with

Children’s Emergency Relief

International or CERI. CERI

was founded in 1999 by Dr.

Dearing Garner, who remains

Director of Pastoral Care and

Senior Missions Advisor.

CERI is associated with BCFS

or Baptist Children and Family Services and sponsors mission trips all over the world to benefit orphans.

Mission Sewing Circle has been associated with CERI since

2009. In that time period of ten years, the group has provided

7,392 handmade hats and scarves that are given to orphans in

the countries of Moldova, Ukraine and Romania. Each year

CERI volunteers travel to one of these countries to provide new

winter boots and socks to orphaned children. While they are

being fitted for boots, the children can pick out a hat or scarf

while supplies last.

While many hands have participated in making these hats and scarves,

two members of the Mission Sewing Circle need to be recognized for

their faithful service in producing volumes of hats and scarves. They are

Kay Jackson and Barbara

Evans. Thank you, ladies.

If you are interested in

making children’s hats

and scarves for this very

worthwhile project, please

stop by the Sewing Room

for yarn and instructions.
