Country(ies): Serbia Affirmation of Multiculturalism and Tolerance in Vojvodina 2006-2007 (Afirmacija multikulturalizma i tolerancije u Vojvodini 2006 - 2007) Partners: Provincial Secretariat for Administration, Legislation and National Minorities, Museum of Vojvodina, Novi Sad City Museum, Subotica Town Museum, Historical Archives of Subotica, Sombor City Museum Funding Bodies: Provincial Secretariat for Administration, Legislation and National Minorities, AP Vojvodina Project Description: The main objectives of the programme are to promote the idea of an open democratic society, to raise the awareness of multilingualism and multiculturalism in Vojvodina and to show that they are values of common interest. The programme includes the following projects: Living together is a project aimed at secondary school students. The students prepared an exhibition on the history of people living together in Vojvodina, including the historical development starting from the 9th century, positive and negative examples of living together, cultural interfusions and results of tolerant inter-ethnic relations in the 19th century and the experience after the Second World War and the breakdown of Yugoslavia in recent times. Check out this team! is a project for the production and distribution of a multi-media CD containing educational material pertaining to the history, culture and tradition of national and ethnic communities in the territory of Vojvodina. The material is distributed to upper primary students. The cup of tolerance is a sport competition between schools with classes held in national minority languages, with an accompanying cultural and entertainment programme. The quiz "How well do we know each other?" is a quiz-competition for junior secondary school learners about the history and culture of national communities living in Vojvodina. The media campaign Multiculturalism in Vojvodina under the motto Different? - but also the same! consists of the production and broadcasting of short video clips related to the traditions, cultures and history of national and ethnic communities living in Vojvodina today via the major TV stations in Vojvodina. Interethnic cultural communication via the media is a project to establish a joint multiethnic television desk for training local and regional media staff on the production of multilingual programmes. Restoring good business habits is a project to introduce and revive multilingualism in the fields of business and economy.
