o What do I think of Facebook visually?

o How do I interact with it?

o My thoughts on the interface?

o What motivates me to use it?

Let’s just take a minute to remember how it all started. Bebo off course was how the social networking craze first began for me. Now Bebo is a thing of the past and

everyone speaks Facebook now.

Visual

Visually I think Facebook is a bore. Yes it’s clean, crisp and simple but that isn’t exciting. I want the option of different colours, possible themes, maybe even widgets, animations or slideshows.

The layout should also be ours to adjust. There is just too much going on and honestly I don’t want to look at it all.

Interaction

Facebook has many features, so many in fact that there are still some that I haven’t even heard of and I am a frequent user.

My interaction involves:Up-dating my statusWriting comments Uploading photographsLiking thingsPosting linksChattingPokingChanging my profile photoViewing eventsI did play some games in the beginning

Interface

Before proudly owning a Blackberry I would only have had access to Facebook on either my home PC or via my laptop. Now I have unlimited access to the site on my phone. However I wouldn’t be the biggest fan of the Facebook app. I find it slow and I don’t like being constantly linked to it, I feel that it is nearly verging on obsession.

Motivation

We all use Facebook for many different things. Keeping in touch with people, finding old friends or even family, the social aspect, to share photos and our personality, to keep up-to-date with certain goings on and while all of the above motivates me to use it, my main reason and if everyone else was honest about it, is pure nosiness.

Visual

Visually Shirley feels there is too much going on and because of the constant changes to the layout it’s confusing. However unlike me she feels the colour theme is simple and if it was able to be changed would only lead to more confusion.

Interaction

Because Shirley is new to Facebook and also isn’t a frequent user her interaction is limited. Her last status up-date was on the 17th of July 2011. She doesn’t see the point in constantly up-dating it or documenting her every moment. She does reply to comments left on her page and writes the odd comment mostly on relatives pages. She has used chat on a few occasions and “likes” things.

Interface

Being new to the Facebook world and the world of computers in general she only has access to Facebook on the home computer. However now that she has mastered that I could see her attempt the mobile Facebook application.

Motivation

She was just curious to begin with and also a good friend recommended Facebook to her. She now likes that you can find old friends and family online. It has opened a new world of socialisation to her.
