I believe that the linguistic and interpersonal are accurate. I perform well in language classes and I enjoy being with and helping other people. I can often understand and relate to many different people.

I was surprised that my logical was one of the lower sections because I have always been good at math. This is similar with the visual/spatial because I have always thought that I was actually quite observant. However, it is accurate in that I have never been that artistically talented. I love painting and doodling but am by far no artist.

The intrapersonal is correctly represented as low because I often have trouble figuring out things about myself and understanding exactly who I am. The musical is accurately low because I have never learned how to play an instrument. I have little to no skill with recognizing notes and other musical aspects, but I thoroughly enjoy listening to music and singing (even if I am not so good at it!).

My naturalistic was surprisingly high. I believe it may be overrepresented. I love nature and being outdoors- it’s one of my favorite things! But I know an average amount about specific animal traits, names, plant types, etc. My kinesthetic is probably a little overrepresented as well. I have never had very good balance and am not in the more talented range of athletes. I enjoy playing sports and things, but my aptitude and physical talent is lacking.

Course Topic: Developmental Psychology

Activity: • Analyze the developmental growth of a family

member, friend, or acquaintance with a disability (ranging as anything from depression to autism, to provide a couple examples).

• Outline the factors that attribute to this growth, both related and unrelated to the disability.

• Visit a nursing home or local program to encounter and, if desired, help people with disabilities such as Alzheimer's or down syndrome. This will aid in hands on learning. Rather than simply reading about hindrances to development, students will encounter them. Students will be able to apply them to real life and understand how real they are and the huge effects they can have.

• Compile a journal of visits and discuss terms and theories from the unit in order to explain the situations of the people encountered. The analysis of a family member, friend, or acquaintance will be added to this journal as well.

Here is an example of a local program that a student could visit. My soccer team helped one night with TOPSoccer, a program that helps kids with disabilities learn and play soccer.

Course Topic: Sensation and Perception

Activity:

• The student will go on a nature walk. This can be through the neighborhood, on a hiking trail, through a local park, on a riverwalk, whatever the student desires as long as it is outside.

• The student will record everything he or she perceives. There will be a section for each sense- visual, hearing, smell, taste, touch, vestibular, and kinesthetic. (Be sure not to eat or touch anything that could be hazardous to ones health!!)

• The student will analyze and explain how he or she perceived with these senses on the walk and how each one affected the overall experience.

• Lastly, the student will pick one sense and explain how different the experience would have been without it.

• Terms from the unit will be used in explaining all sections and identified in boldface.

Course Topic: States of Consciousness

Activity:• The student will write their choice of a

poem, short story, or essay about a character’s experience in an altered state of consciousness.

• The writing must be fictional and relate to a state of consciousness studied.

• The student will also ensure that the feelings and experiences the invented character encounters are congruent to those studied in class.

• Lastly, the student will provide an explanation of at least one page that defines the state of consciousness depicted, explains the reason for this state of consciousness, and lists the effects it has on the mind and body.
