Responsible Pet OwnershipLast Thursday, our K/1 class was once again visited by a representative from Responsible Pet Ownership. The children were taught about approaching unknown dogs and how their body language affects how dogs react to them.

Bucketts of CareAt our recent Education Week event, many of our students visited the Gloucester Shire Council stand. In doing so, they took part in a quiz that the council workers who were manning the stand had prepared for the day. The following students were the winners of a voucher for either the Hydrotherapy or Olympic Pool: Beau Blanch, Ethan Cawthorn, Jarred Chapman, Hamish McClure, Georgia Schultz, Evaena Radford, Sienna Marzato, Lucas Pope, Luke Blanch, Justin Battams, Ella Howe, Natalie Rayner, Will Germon, Ben Haynes, Amelia Carson, Jarrod Commons, and Lane Edwards. These vouchers will be sent to the school and given to the students when they are received.The school has also received a letter from the Gloucester RSL Sub Branch praising the conduct of our students who attended their activity on the day. This letter said, in part, “We wish to acknowledge the enthusiastic students who attended the RSL Sub Branch Bucketts of Care Presentation … The students were well behaved and a credit to your school … by the end we were sorry to see the students leave.”Congratulations to everyone for their behaviour on the day.

Sydney ExcursionThank you to everyone who has returned their forms and paid the outstanding amounts on our excursion. Not long to go now! We will be holding a meeting with the students later this week to answer any questions they may have. If parents would like any further information please do not hesitate to contact the school. At the request of Newcombes Coachlines, who will be taking us to Sydney, please do not pack anything that you do not need as the bus will need to pass over the weigh station at Twelve Mile on the way to Sydney and any extra weight could be problematic.We will be departing from BPS at 8.30am sharp next Wednesday, 21 August so please have your child here at 8.10am. See you then!

Centenary MeetingWe will be meeting again in the school library this afternoon at 5pm to plan next year’s event. Everyone welcome!

Arts CampPlease see the attached note for the arts camp for Years 4, 5 and 6 students being run during November. Please note the short turn around time and that applications are due back at school by next Monday, 19 August.

P&C NewsThanks to everyone who supported our recent “Pie Drive”, we hope you all enjoyed your pies and lamingtons. We raised $874.00 profit from this fundraiser. Many thanks must go to Lyn Laurie and Dianne Tully who helped us on packing day, your time and effort was greatly appreciated.

Our next P & C meeting is this -Wednesday 14 August @ 12.30pm Everyone is welcome to attend.

We still have a position vacant for “President” on the P&C for the remainder of this year. As most of the hard work and fundraising for this year is already organised this would be a great opportunity to come along and see how the school P&C operates. If the P&C is going to continue into the future we do need more parent’s and/ or grandparents to attend our meetings. Everyone is always most welcome, even if you can’t attend every meeting any time you can give, is appreciated.
