What about Complementary Medicine and Alternative Medicine?

◍The World Health Organization (WHO) considers Traditional Medicine (or Healing Traditions) as the term to describe what is known as Complimentary and Alternative Medicine.

◍The labels "Complimentary Medicine and Alternative Medicine" are condescending, derogatory, judgmental, inferring conventional medicine is superior to any other forms of medicine

◍The National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the United Stateshas already changed the National Centre for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (created in 1999) to the National Center for Complementary & Integrative Medicine (since 2015)

Health and wellness is the state of harmony, balance and synergy between humankind and the universe, between humankind and the nature, between and among humankind and within the human body, mind, and soul.

Definition of Traditional Medicine According to the WHO

Traditional Medicine is the sum total of the knowledge, skills, and practices based on the theories, beliefs, and experiences indigenous to different cultures, whether explicable or not, used in the maintenance of health as well as in the prevention, diagnosis, improvement or treatment of physical and mental illness.

Other Features of Integrative Medicine

• The aim is to use the most appropriate, safe and evidenced based treatments available in the world today

• A philosophy that neither rejects conventional medicine nor accepts alternative therapies uncritically
