Our on-going projects for metro systems

Covering Sg. Buloh – Serdang – Putrajaya

The project started 2015 and expected to finish on 2022

Total stations of 38: 27 elevated stations and 11

underground stations

52.2km: 38.7km elevated; 13.5km underground

49 four-cars trainsets will be provided and estimated to

carry 533,000 passengers per day

Overall progress 41%. As of 29th April 2019, the guideway

along Jalan Kuala Selangor has been completed.

Covering Bandar Utama – Johan Setia

The project started on 2017 and expected to finish on

2024

Total of 20 stations

Total track length is 37km: 2km underground

22 three-cars trainsets will be provided and estimated to

have 500,000 ridership per day

Overall progress before stalled was 10%. Works will

resume in second half of year 2019

functions as a communication gateway

between on-board operational sub-

systems with train-to-ground

communication network.

At each car:

Trackside systems

Two layers:

▪ TETRA is used for vital voice

communications;

▪ WiFi (IEEE 802.11) for wireless

broadband.

For wireless broadband:

▪ Coverage along the metro lines, including

station;

▪ Mobility capability whilst train moving at

100 kmph;

▪ Capacity performance of at least 25 Mbps;

▪ Seamless handover with packet loss

<0.1% at stop, 1% on the move;

▪ Fast roaming <30ms.

Coverage overlap is needed to ensure seamless

handover (roaming) and constant data

throughput.

The backbone transmission network:

▪ Fibre backbone for all uni- & bi-directional communication

paths between stations, depot, buildings, TPSS, BSS & OCC.

▪ Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) technology.

▪ 20Gbits/s transmission rate, future upgradeable

▪ LAN with Layer 3 or Layer 2 networking nodes, with 3

QoS/traffic classes (i.e mission critical application)

The backbone also provides connectivity for other rail systems such

as Automatic Fare Collection (AFC), Electronic Access Control

System (EACS), Corporate IT system.

Station-level communication systems

At station-level, operator in station control room is able to:

▪ Monitor live streaming of multiple CCTV feeds;

▪ Broadcast live or pre-recorded messages;

▪ Communicate via voice and short messages;

▪ Communicate via telephony with OCC, other stations, help points, emergency phones etc.

The communication system plays a key role in managing situations pertaining to intrusion and fire:

▪ In case of fire: signalling is informed immediately to either bypass station or move the opposite direction.

▪ In case intrusion: Controller is alerted with a CCTV pop-up, and the public announcement & passenger display system are primed.

GIRN system installed in underground sections provides public safety agencies with two-way inter & intra agency voice & data communication for day-to-day ops & during emergency.
