The M800IP® MULTIFONO® Radio and Telephone Voice Communication System (VCS) represents SITTI state of the art top level Voice Over IP (VoIP) VCS system. It fully meets Air Traffic Control requirements by integrating the most advanced IP features and technologies, coupled with user-friendliness at all Operator and Maintenance levels.

SITTI boasts a long term presence in international standardisation Working Groups tasked with the introduction and development of IP technology into the ATC environment. Such strict collaboration and proactive contribution enable the M800IP® VCS product to fully comply to ICAO, EUROCONTROL and EUROCAE worldwide Recommendations and Standards

The M800IP® MULTIFONO® VCS brings with it the required flexibility to fulfil all user requirements and to support multiple operational roles and usages. Specifically, M800IP® is fully VoIP ED137 compliant, as testified by the many successful interoperability trials both in Europe and the USA, as well as the in-service operations of M800IP® around the globe. Digital, analogue and legacy non-IP interfaces are natively integrated.

The overall system Open Architecture design ensures high le vel of modularity, scalability and process distribution. Through these principles an unparalleled Reliability Ratio of 99.9999% is achievable.

Continuous functioning without single-point-of-failure is guaranteed through the use of Duplicated and Parallel processor operations, Star Architecture and distributed subunits, thus ensuring fault tolerant operations. These features make M800IP® MULTIFONO® VCS the best choice for strategic Civil and Military mission critical Communication applications using VoIP technology.

Scalability and Independent Subunits permit the M800IP® MULTIFONO® VCS to be configured to meet the requirements of the smallest Airfield Control Tower up to full scale Air Traffic Control Centres around the globe, with hundreds of Controller Working Positions, radios and telephone lines, without sacrificing system performance.

Operational seamless expandability grants the customer an optimal level of flexibility to meet changing ATC requirements and needs, that guarantee an enviable investment return.

Operational Applications

Multi Functional Touch Screen

Applications available as standard features in the SITTI VCS Human Machine Interface (HMI) provide Operators with facilities that contribute in making their role more efficient and the service safer. These include:

Short Time Recording, whereby operators have record and playback facilities with about one hour storage capability. All conversations are recorded with automatic GPS time stamping. Quick local playback at individual Controller Position is possible via loudspeakers or headsets.

Embedded Directory (Address Book): highly configurable in terms of pages and tags, it allows quick access to telephone numbers and easy dialling.

Short Messages Exchange (SME), providing controllers with the possibility of sending/receiving operational information to/from both other M800IP® users and other host equipment (CPDLC messaging, Radar commands, etc.). All messages are tracked and stored.

On-Line help, Acoustic Level Adjustment, Time and Date Display and other local menu options further provide Controllers with a number of facilities to customize their working position.

CWP equipment is complimented through light weight, Noise Cancelling headset and professional handset units, high performance loudspeakers and triple socket connector panels with device detection capabilities.

Reliable, Configurable and User-Friendly Human Machine Interface (HMI) devices provide Controllers with all information and services to facilitate safe and efficient operations in their arena of responsibility.

Based on Touch Screen technology, this high brightness Multi-Functional terminal (MTS) is fully customer configurable by means of the MULTIFONO® Management System (MMS) with controlled access to all available services, e.g. radio and telephone communication channels, Inter-Console communications, as well as security login facilities and parameters.

SITTI is also manufacturing highly ergonomic consoles for optimised and customisable access to the offered technology, in line with environmental requirements and operational conditions.

Success Through Innovation

Configuration, Maintenance and Alarm Management

SMART and cost effective solutions are available for small air field airports with limited number of positions and radio and telephone connections.

MIDI solutions cover bigger towers and small Control and Command centres that require a significant number of positions and radio and telephone connections of various type.

LARGE solutions cope with large Control and Command centres with a high number of positions and radio and telephone connections.

The unquestionable leadership demonstrated through the SITTI successful long term presence since 1946 in the Voice Switching and Communication market, complemented with R&D commitment to technological advancement, provides the M800IP® MULTIFONO® with significant advantages in terms of application design and operational performance.

M800IP® takes full advantage of the previous PCM MULTIFONO® generation M600S. Customers that significantly invested in PCM and/or analogue technology and now want to take advantage of the new IP technology, especially in terms of transport media and radio equipment, can also benefit of a range of Gateway Interfaces, specifically developed by SITTI. Such units can be used as IP Interfaces towards legacy Radio equipment and Telephone connections. thus guaranteeing their correct performance and integration into the new M800IP® architecture, based on the ED137 VoIP standard.

M800IP® VCS, just like any other member of the MULTIFONO® family, uses the MULTIFONO® Management System (MMS) software platform to facilitate system Configuration, Maintenance and Alarms Management. The MMS software is modular in design with components included and tailored to suit the individual VCS system requirements. The MMS System performs two essential tasks:

System Configuration - It facilitates initial system setting up, such as module inclusion and technical parameters definition. Customer configuration capabilities, such as communication lines and frequencies labelling, roles definition, CWP credentials, system protection against unauthorized operations, are set via the MMS system.

Alarms Management - Collection, recording and display of system alarms and operational messages. These can be SNMP system alarm messages or expanded capabilities for Event Message Recording and Playback. Filtering and sorting tools are also there.

MMS can be interfaced to higher level Customer’s host computers for further control, configuration and reporting. A typical example here is the possibility of being interfaced to third party radar resectorisation computers via standard or legacy protocols. Remote access to the system is also part of MMS.
