Relevance to the MDGs

Target 6. Children and youth with disabilities will be an integral part of the population targeted by the millennium development goal of ensuring that by 2015 all boys and girls will complete a full course of primary schooling..Target 21. Governments should halve, between 1990 and 2015, the proportion of persons with disabilities whose income/consumption is less than one dollar a day.Strategy 2146. Governments at all levels, in collaboration with United Nations development organizations andagencies, international, regional and national development organizations, the private sector and othercivil society organizations, should mainstream disability perspectives in the development andimplementation of all social and economic development plans, in particular those related to theMillennium Development Goals. The development of disability indicators for the MillenniumDevelopment Goals should be considered.
