WHP has won an Excellence Award from Wine Spectator Magazine and multiple Diner’s Choice Awards from OpenTable.com. Plus, WHP won a R.E.D. Award for Best Hospitality Project. But perhaps even better, WHP has led the way with a 91.2% guest service rating with nearly 10,000 surveys returned this year alone. How is all this possible? You! Every Team Member, both front-of-house and heart-of-house, makes a genuine difference and none of these accolades would have been garnered without your extraordinary efforts. So pat yourself on the back and eat a big slice of cake on October 30, YOU deserve it.
Believe it or not, the new Wild Horse Pass Hotel & Casino will have been open for three years at the end of this month – and there’s a lot to celebrate. In that time, AAA awarded WHP with a coveted Four Diamond rating. Phoenix Magazine and Phoenix New Times named WHP Best Casino, twice. Shula’s at
As Apprentice Pit Manager and a mentee in the Pathways Mentorship Program Regina Manuel knew she would have a lot to learn. She says she has always enjoyed the table games area of the casino and when a friend told her about the opportunity to join the Pathways Mentorship Program as an Apprentice Pit Manager, she jumped on the opportunity.
“I wanted to take this opportunity to learn this position and be in a situation where I could help my career and also help my Community,” says Regina. After two months in the position, Regina says she has really enjoyed learning more about the table games
area and getting to know all of the people in her new department. “All of the Team Members here have been so encouraging and supportive. It’s really been outstanding,” she says.
Regina has made a great impression on her new Team Members and one guest in particular will likely never forget her impact. That guest was enjoying playing at Wild Horse Pass Hotel & Casino when he began chok-ing and struggling to breathe. Regina sprang into action and administered the Heimlich maneuver and saving the guest’s life and to hear her tell it, it was no big deal. “It all happened so fast,” she said. “I just jumped in and before I knew it I was giving him the Heimlich. I received training in CPR and the Heimlich when I worked with the Community and it all just came back to me. It was exciting, but after it happened, I just went back to my duties like nothing happened”
