Facilitate and Inspire Student Learning and CreativityTeachers use their knowledge of subject matter, teaching and learning, and technology to facilitate experiences that advance student learning, creativity, and innovation in both face-to-face and virtual environments. Teachers:promote, support, and model creative and innovative thinking and inventiveness. engage students in exploring real-world issues and solving authentic problems using digital tools and resources. promote student reflection using collaborative tools to reveal and clarify students' conceptual understanding and thinking, planning, and creative processes. model collaborative knowledge construction by engaging in learning with students, colleagues, and others in face-to-face and virtual environments.Examples: For this standard, I modeled using Photoshop and Photobooth by taking pictures of myself and editing them. I then created a poster with all of my different editing techniques for the students to refer back to. This can be found on my Photo Editing page.Back to ISTE Teacher StandardsEnd of Slide Show3Design and Develop Digital-Age Learning Experiences and AssessmentsTeachers design, develop, and evaluate authentic learning experiences and assessment incorporating contemporary tools and resources to maximize content learning in context and to develop the knowledge, skills, and attitudes identified in the NETSS. Teachers:design or adapt relevant learning experiences that incorporate digital tools and resources to promote student learning and creativity.develop technology-enriched learning environments that enable all students to pursue their individual curiosities and become active participants in setting their own educational goals, managing their own learning, and assessing their own progress. customize and personalize learning activities to address students' diverse learning styles, working strategies, and abilities using digital tools and resources. provide students with multiple and varied formative and summative assessments aligned with content and technology standards and use resulting data to inform learning and teaching.

Examples: For this standard I created a Screen-Cast-O-Matic teaching students how to create hanging indents on Microsoft Word. This tutorial allows students to work at their own pace. This can be found on my instructional unit wiki page.Back to ISTE Teacher StandardsEnd of Slide ShowModel Digital-Age Work and LearningTeachers exhibit knowledge, skills, and work processes representative of an innovative professional in a global and digital society. Teachers:demonstrate fluency in technology systems and the transfer of current knowledge to new technologies and situations. collaborate with students, peers, parents, and community members using digital tools and resources to support student success and innovation.communicate relevant information and ideas effectively to students, parents, and peers using a variety of digital-age media and formats. model and facilitate effective use of current and emerging digital tools to locate, analyze, evaluate, and use information resources to support research and learning.

Examples: In order to communicate with students, parents, and the community I have created a newsletter that I would send out to introduce myself and keep everyone informed about what is going on in the classroom. This newsletter can be found on my desktop publishing wiki page.Back to ISTE Teacher StandardsEnd of Slide ShowPromote and Model Digital Citizenship and ResponsibilityTeachers understand local and global societal issues and responsibilities in an evolving digital culture and exhibit legal and ethical behavior in their professional practices. Teachers:advocate, model, and teach safe, legal, and ethical use of digital information and technology, including respect for copyright, intellectual property, and the appropriate documentation of sources.address the diverse needs of all learners by using learner-centered strategies providing equitable access to appropriate digital tools and resources. promote and model digital etiquette and responsible social interactions related to the use of technology and information.develop and model cultural understanding and global awareness by engaging with colleagues and students of other cultures using digital-age communication and collaboration tools.

Examples: In order to teach my students how to safely and legally navigate on the internet, I have found five age appropriate websites that I will use to help further their understanding. These websites and examples of how I would use them can be found on my Internet Safety, Copyright and Fair Use page.Back to ISTE Teacher StandardsEnd of Slide ShowEngage in Professional Growth and LeadershipTeachers continuously improve their professional practice, model lifelong learning, and exhibit leadership in their school and professional community by promoting and demonstrating the effective use of digital tools and resources. Teachers:participate in local and global learning communities to explore creative applications of technology to improve student learning.exhibit leadership by demonstrating a vision of technology infusion, participating in shared decision making and community building, and developing the leadership and technology skills of others.evaluate and reflect on current research and professional practice on a regular basis to make effective use of existing and emerging digital tools and resources in support of student learning.contribute to the effectiveness, vitality, and self-renewal of the teaching profession and of their school and community.

Examples: To show my professional development, I have designed rubrics using Rubistar to assess my students. Examples of these rubrics can be found on my instructional unit page and the directions for how to use Rubistar can be found on my rubrics page.Back to ISTE Teacher StandardsEnd of Slide ShowCreativity and InnovationStudents demonstrate creative thinking, construct knowledge, and develop innovative products and processes using technology. Students:apply existing knowledge to generate new ideas, products, or processes. create original works as a means of personal or group expression. use models and simulations to explore complex systems and issues. identify trends and forecast possibilities.Examples: Students completed a photo editing assignment where they edited a photo they took of pictures in their school that related to a specific letter of the alphabet. See my instructional plans and photo editing wiki page. Back to ISTE Student StandardsEnd of Slide Show10 WI Teacher Standards (1-3)

1. Teachers know the subjects they are teaching. The teacher understands the central concepts, tools of inquiry, and structures of the disciplines she or he teaches and can create learning experiences that make these aspects of subject matter meaningful for pupils.

2. Teachers know how children grow. The teacher understands how children with broad ranges of ability learn and provides instruction that supports their intellectual, social, and personal development.

3. Teachers understand that children learn differently. The teacher understands how pupils differ in their approaches to learning and the barriers that impede learning and can adapt instruction to meet the diverse needs of pupils, including those with disabilities and exceptionalities.

Examples: I, as a future teacher, understand that children learn differently which is why my partner and I created both A and C level projects. We tried to develop lessons that any student would be able to accomplish. The rubrics and assignments can be found on my instructional unit page. End of Slide ShowStandards 4-6Standards 7-1010 WI Teacher Standards (4-6)

5. Teachers know how to manage a classroom. The teacher uses an understanding of individual and group motivation and behavior to create a learning environment that encourages positive social interaction, active engagement in learning, and self-motivation.6. Teachers communicate well. The teacher uses effective verbal and nonverbal communication techniques as well as instructional media and technology to foster active inquiry, collaboration, and supportive interaction in the classroom.Examples: My newsletter and podcast show examples of nonverbal and verbal communication through technology. The students for this unit will be working in partners, individually, and as a large group. The students will be put into pairs to take the photos, and the large group will work together to create the final Alphabet Book. Please look at my instructional unit for a description of our lesson.
