Loosen the foot plate screw (#16) using a wrench if necessary. 2. Move the plate to set the desired depth along the probe (#14). 3. Align the foot plate screw with one of the detents on the probe. 4. Secure the foot plate by tightening the foot plate screw. The screw should be tight enough to prevent movement. Do not over tighten. Filling the tank 1. Press the soil probe vertically and securely into the soil so it will remain there without assistance. 2. Remove the tank cap (#21). 3. Fill and replace cap. 4. The tank can also be removed from the injector and filled in its stand. See Removing the tank from the injector. Removing the tank from the injector 1. Place the Tank Stand (#22) on a level, clean surface. 2. Remove the replaceable tank from the injector by pressing down on the tank release grip (#5) and pulling straight up on the tank. 3. Press the tank into the tank stand with steady firm pressure. Note: Always place the tank into the tank stand when the tank is not in the injector. Returning the tank to the injector 1. Remove the tank stand from the tank by pulling firmly on the tank stand. CAUTION: Be careful not to pinch any part of your body when removing the tank stand from the tank. The tank stand is under tension and could pinch the skin. 2. Place the tank into the injector by aligning the tank with the top opening and guiding the tank into the injector until the tank connector “clicks” into place. 3. Pull gently on the tank to test that the conncetor has fully engaged. Replacing the probe tip/ Accessing the probe tip check valve 1. Using an appropriate wrench, and while holding the foot plate (#15) stationary, unscrew the probe tip (#17) by turning it in the counter-clockwise direction. 2. Remove the check valve (#8) from the probe tip. Placing the blade of a small screwdriver under the lip of the check valve may assist in removing the valve. 3. Replace the tip and/or check valve as needed. The check valve is inserted with the O-ring toward the outside of the tip. Before inserting the check valve into the tip, coat the outside of the valve and o-ring with a light grease or petroleum jelly. 4. Replace the tip by screwing it clockwise into the probe. The use of anti-seize compound on the tip threads is recommended. Replacing the probe O-Ring/ Accessing the probe tip check valve 1. Using an appropriate wrench, and while holding the piston cylinder (#23) stationary, unscrew the probe from the cylinder by turning it in the counter-clockwise direction. 2. Remove the check valve (#24) from the probe. Placing the blade of a small screwdriver under the lip of the check valve may assist in removing the valve. 3. Replace the O-Ring or check valve as needed. The check valve is inserted with the O-Ring toward the outside of the probe. Before inserting the check valve into the probe bushing, coat the outside of the valve and o-ring with a light grease or petroleum jelly. Note that this check valve is not like the other two valves used. It is the only valve that has a flow restrictor attached to it. 4. Before screwing the probe clockwise into the piston cylinder, coat the o-ring with a light grease or petrolem jelly. Also, use an anti-seize compound on the threads prior to assembly. Adjusting the handles 1. Remove the handle hitch pin (#3) from one of the handles by pulling out on the curved wire bale and swinging the bale away from the pin. 2. Position the handle (#2) so the grip points away from the tank. 3. Locate a hole that places the handle at a comfortable height. 4. Insert the hitch pin through the holes in the handle and secure. 5. Repeat for the opposite handle. Personal protective equipment (PPE) should be used in accordance with applicable Safety Data Sheets. Maintenance Service Tips It is recommended that the soil injector is kept clean and lubricated in order to keep your soil injector working trouble-free, Following these simple steps will ensure years of operation without problems or difficulties. 1. After finishing injections for the day, remove the tank (#20) and place the tank into the tank stand (#22). 2. Pump the injector several times to remove any remaining chemical from the injector. Be sure to dispose of the chemical in accordance with label instructions. 3. Attach the Garden Hose Adapter (#26) to a garden hose. 4. Align the hose adapter with the coupler and push the adapter into the coupler until the adapter is locked in the coupler. 5. Flush the injector by turning on the water and letting it run through the injector. Pump the injector while flushing. Dispose of any chemical rinsate in accordance with label instructions. 6. Turn off the water and using the Release lever, remove the hose and adapter from the injector. 7. Remove the Garden Hose Adapter from the hose. 8. Using the garden hose, rinse any dirt and debris from the outside of the injector, probe and tip. 9. Put several drops of a medium weight oil into the access hole on the side of the Sleeve (#12). 10. Using a rag or paper towel, apply oil to the injector probe and tip. Applying anti-seize compound to threads when you assemble any part of the injector will ease disassembly should it becomes necessary in the future. O-Rings should always have a light coat of grease or petroleum jelly. The application of a medium weight oil on moving parts, such as the Handles (#2) and Piston Cylinder (#23), should keep these parts moving freely. The probe and tip may rust when exposed to moisture. While the operation of the unit is not affected, oiling the probe and tip or spraying with a lubricant will reduce the formation of rust. Adjusting the foot plate

1. Loosen the foot plate screw (#16) using a wrench if necessary. 2. Move the plate to set the desired depth along the probe (#14). 3. Align the foot plate screw with one of the detents on the probe. 4. Secure the foot plate by tightening the foot plate screw. The screw should be tight enough to prevent movement. Do not over tighten.

Filling the tank

1. Press the soil probe vertically and securely into the soil so it will remain there without assistance. 2. Remove the tank cap (#21). 3. Fill and replace cap. 4. The tank can also be removed from the injector and filled in its stand. See Removing the tank from the injector.

Removing the tank from the injector

1. Place the Tank Stand (#22) on a level, clean surface. 2. Remove the replaceable tank from the injector by pressing down on the tank release grip (#5) and pulling straight up on the tank. 3. Press the tank into the tank stand with steady firm pressure.

Note: Always place the tank into the tank stand when the tank is not in the injector.

Returning the tank to the injector

1. Remove the tank stand from the tank by pulling firmly on the tank stand.CAUTION: Be careful not to pinch any part of your body when removing the tank stand from the tank. The tank stand is under tension and could pinch the skin. 2. Place the tank into the injector by aligning the tank with the top opening and guiding the tank into the injector until the tank connector “clicks” into place. 3. Replacing the piston O-Ring/Accessing the piston check valve

1. Remove the tank from the injector (see Removing the tank from the injector). 2. Remove the sleeve (#12) from the body (#4) by turning the sleeve in the counter-clockwise direction. 3. Remove and save the coupler spacer (#18) from the now exposed coupler (#6). 4. Grasping the coupler, pull the piston (#9) out of the sleeve (#12). 5. Remove piston backer rings (#11) and the piston O-Ring (#10) from the piston. 6. Place a backer ring (#11), a new piston o-ring (#10) and 2 new backer rings (#11) onto the piston. 7. Using a light grease or petroleum jelly, lubricate the O-Rings. 8. Insert the piston into the sleeve until it firmly rests in position. 9. Place the coupler spacer over the coupler. 10. Reattach the sleeve to the body by screwing it in the clockwise direction. Use an anti-seize compound on the threads prior to reassembly.

Accessing the piston check valve

1. Follow Steps 1-4 under Replacing the piston O-Rings. 2. Using the appropriate wrench, and while holding the large end of the piston, remove the coupler by unscrewing it in the counter-clockwise direction. 3. Remove the check valve. Placing the blade of a small screwdriver into the slot on the side if the check valve may assist in removing the valve. 4. Replace with a new check valve making sure you insert it O-Ring first into the coupler. Before inserting the check valve into the coupling, coat the outside of the valve and o-ring with a light grease or petroleum jelly. 5. Reattach the coupler to the piston by screwing it on in the clockwise direction. Use an anti-seize compound on the threads prior to reassembly. 6. Reattach the sleeve to the body by following Steps 7-10 under Replacing the piston O-Rings.
