Universal

The Universal logo has he planet Earth in it, which suggests to me that any film made by them will be ‘out of this world’ in the sense that it will be more amazing than other companies. The planet and name ‘Universal’ also show me clearly that they make films worldwide and for every type of audience, making them a very diverse company.

Warner Bros.

The Warner Bros. logo has a golden crest on it which, to me, shows authority and importance. Also crests are used to represent families, and Warner Bros. was a company started by two brothers which is most probably why they chose to use this. Also, the fact that it is in the sky shows that any film made by Warner Bros. is probably going to be ‘sky high’ compared to any other.

DreamWorks, Paramount & Columbia

DreamWorks, Columbia & Paramount (as well as Warner Bros.) all have one common factor, they all have the sky in them. This connotes that all of these companies feel that all films made by them will be above all others. By having the sky in their titles they are indirectly telling people that the films they’re going to watch will be amazing, more amazing in fact than any other.

MGM (Metro Goldwyn Mayer)

The MGM logo has a lion roaring out of a golden circle with film strips at the sides. A lion is seen as the king of the animal kingdom which connotes that films made by MGM will be the best and boldest, more so than any other companies. The colour gold is also associated with wealth, prosperity and a kings crown, meaning that they will probably promote films to more prestigious people.
