Message from the Master Layavastha is merging in the heart of Master, the means and the end of pursuing the divine quest. It is “Sayujyam” the fourth and last phase of “Prapathi” the ‘yoga of surrender ’; the other three phases are ‘salokyam’, ‘samipyam’, and ‘saroopyam’. So, surrender to Master is not an abrupt single act; rather it is a process in

‘Sagunopasana’ i.e. realizing God through attributes and form.

There is another method of approach to Reality viz. without attributes and form called as ‘Nirgunopasana’. In the first method viz. Sagunopasana the visionary form of God or samartha sad-guru is taken as the support (Alambana) mentally

during meditation, and finally transcending the form, merging in to subtlest abstract conceptual notion of God-head. In the second method there is no visionary form, but direct meditation on obtrusive, conceptual notion. “Jnatum Drashtum, Cha, Tatvena Praveshtum Cha Param Tapa”

Meaning: “Hai! Arjun it is only through exclusive devotion, you can know, see, and enter as merging in God” (Ref: Gita 11- 54).

Meditation on formless abstract ideology is too difficult to comprehend the goal of spirituality. Moreover, so-long one is intrinsically oriented to body as “I am so and so” how is it possible to meditate on intangible, inconceivable entity? Therefore, Bhagavan Sri Krishna counsels to meditate on His form which is embodied as guru principle (tatva) in all samartha sad-gurus in coming ages.

“Klesho Adhika Taras Tesham Avayakta Asakta Chetasham

Avayakta Hi Gatirdukham Deha Vadbhir Avapyate”

Meaning: Those who desire to achieve Ultimate Reality,

the Parabrahman through “Nirgunopasana” i.e. without attributes and qualities of abstract conceptual entity, it is very painful and difficult, because such one, at any time is body conscious oriented. (Ref: Gita12-5)

Firm faith in attaining the ultimate goal is needed. As merging, the layawastha deepens, thought becomes, subtler and subtler and increasingly more pervasive and previous firmness of thought and solidity becomes relaxed. This is the reason saints and sages apparently appear to be very relaxingly accommodative in all situations and circumstances. Such a yogi intuitively feels oneness with one and all in the universe. The yogi transcends the barriers of relative social values and cultural customs by the process of sublimation and transmutation of

parochial ego of waking conscience into transcendental consciousness; then leading to cosmic consciousness, to Universal SELF Consciousness, the very mode of Godly manifestation and expressive form. Udasinatha or yogi Nirlaptata is a condition of mind-psych where all thoughts have been subsided. It is a highly advanced stage of yoga culture (sadhana). But, it cannot be the final stage, as it is transitory and reverts back when transcendental meditation is over. However, it can be made enduring by constant practice, with devotional surrender to Guru, who is the only source of power, who can take the seeker to other bank of ocean of ephemeral life to that of eternality, by craving and devotion to achieve higher strata of yoga progress, the yoga state of equanimity, called “Samatavastha”. In this yoga state, the dualities of life in three phases of perceptional, feeler, and thinker personalities are neutralized. Mind becomes peaceful, calm, straight and simple by dissolving complexities of thought process, by and by, as sanskaras exhausted. Modern life in metropolitan cities has become highly fast running against the time, competing with one another, for not survival, but, for the so called standard of living. Complain no time, for Self-introspection and meditation, but lamenting about their worries, unfulfilled desires, to get power and hold on others. How can this be possible? Activities are not the end in themselves. They are the means for your joy and satisfaction. All creatures without exception, go to rest, the sleep; why? In sleep, unknowingly you are compelled, to enter into your real Self, the Soul, ( Atman ) the Godly abode, which is the very source of divine bliss, and the womb of objective creational process. But, sleep is a form of bliss in ignorance, “Avidya” because mind is dormant, so you are devoid of the feelings of both pains and pleasures. Yet, bounded to vagaries of phenomenal world, as soon as it enters the waking consciousness state. Therefore, what needed is to attain the bliss of sleep during waking state of consciousness called as “jagrath sushupti” which is very exalted

state of yoga attainment. And, such a yogi is called Samartha Sad Guru. An Astral Transmission Through Prof. Satyanarayana Chillapa President IUSCM, HQ. Hyderabad-59, India

Spirituality Vs: Free Will and Destiny

The human aspiration to realize Parabrahman, the Ultimate Reality, is a consequence of several lives craving and efforts. The method, technique, procedure, and process for this, is called

spirituality. It goes beyond the narrow lanes of religion. Where religion ends, there spirituality begins. It is an evolutionary process on the continuum of Sat – Chit - Ananda (Existence - Consciousness - Bliss) and not a mutational phenomenon. Evidently, it is logical that destiny i.e. previous life’s culminated efforts influence and shape the nature of present FREE WILL (Sankalpa) in terms of acceleration or deceleration to achieve the spiritual goal.

“Bahoonam Jenma-namantae Janavan Mam Prpadyate

Vasudeva Sarvamiti Sa Mahatma Su Durlabhah”

(Ref: Gita 8 - 19) Meaning: “It takes several lives to realize the

Enlightenment that all creation is the image of Bhagavan, the God. Such a Jnani knowing this divine wisdom surrenders to Me. To find such a Great Soul (Mahatma) is so difficult.”

God realization is an evolutionary process on the continuum of time - space – causation (Desha – Kala – Paristhiti) and not a mutational phenomenon. Evidently, it is logical that

destiny i.e. previous life’s culminated efforts influence and shape the nature of present free WILL in terms of acceleration or deceleration to achieve the goal.

Destiny is past lives accumulated fruits of works (Karma-Phala). Oriental religions and philosophies, like Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, by and large are based on ‘Karma-Sidhanta’ i.e. fruits of action and reaction. According to ‘Karma-Sidhanta’ there are three kinds of ‘Karma’ viz. Prarabdha Karma, Agami Karma, and Sanchita karma. Prarabdha Karma is the one, which is already released to be lived, during the tenure of present life, and cannot be altered for example one born in a royal family while the other in beggar’s home: just like an arrow, already shot from the bow, and cannot be called back.

Destiny refers to this aspect of life. And, while the FREE WILL is the freedom of ability, and capability of the way in which one could think and perform the actions with in the gamut of ‘Prarabdha Karma’ the Destiny. This, aspect may vary from person to person and the situation. However, there is no such thing, as absolute free human WILL. What is all is only relative WILL (Vayshti sankalpa), subservient of God’s macrocosmic will (Samisti Sankalpa). It is just like collective will of all beings in the universe. And, the projection of Macro - Cosmic Mind of Ishvara (God) called as Hiranya-garbha, the golden womb of creational process. Ultimately, human will is the consequence of devolution of macrocosmic wills to operationalise as an instrumental agency, it’s creational plan of activities in the world.

If the concept of destiny is not taken in to purview in spirituality, then the efforts made to self / God Realization would be lost on the event of the death before the realization. Keeping this possible contingency in view, Arujuna, the disciple asks The Lord: “Aprapriya Yoga Samsidhim Kam Gatim Krishna Gachati”

Meaning: O! Lord Krishna what happens to the efforts made in God/ Self Realization, at the event of death before the goal is achieved?

Lord assured the coming future seekers of spiritual Reality that previous efforts made in life would pave the way for continuing the search of God realization in next life; and thus efforts would not go waste “Purvabhya sena Tenaiva Hriyatae Hyava Shao – api Saha Jigna Su Rapi Yogasya Shabdha Brahmathi Vartatae”

Meaning: The yogi, who could not attain Realization of spiritual goal in previous life, would continue the efforts from the point of the goal, left unattained, in the next life. Thus, the efforts of previous life shape the present will, and it would not go waste (Gita 6 - 44).

Thus, in spiritual field there is no scope for pessimism. All efforts big or small to realize the goal, are taken into account of destiny not withstanding the factors where when and how! Swamiji

So far two Sunday meditation sessions have been conducted. And, about 5 noble souls in IUSCM have been initiated. But, so far any preceptor has not been selected. People are too busy here to volunteer for Bhagavan's work. Swamiji is praying to Master, to bestow His grace to work out His Cosmic Plan of starting IUSCM, Ashram here in this part of the world.

Glad to learn that you and ashram mata are fine in NJ. Mr and Mrs Satendra Kumar of Vancouver, Canada visited Liverpool Ashram last week and stayed with us for two days. They were both initiated and they have promised to establish a centre in Vancouver, Canada in time to come. They wish to practice meditation for a while first before deciding to take the next step. I have asked them to send their photographs for Swamiji's blessings. As soon as I receive them I will forward them for your blessings.

With Master's grace and Swamiji's blessings the birthday celebration was well attended. Beti Anita composed a song for Master and sang in her melodious voice. The wordings of the song are not from this world. I have requested her to put it on a CD and give it to me for the IUSCM website. satsang caused some vibrations, which is a positive growth in the right direction.

Govinda Sami presented an overview on the teachings of the Upanishads. The feedback from a few is very encouraging. Since there are hundreds of Upanishads a selected few will be briefly discussed in subsequent satsangs. A summary of the discourse will be sent to you soon. The difference among the spiritual aspirants have started becoming visible. Sooner or later, we will see some of them attaining a state of a "silent mind". Reaching the state of "silent mind" is really the beginning of the Spiritual journey. Swamiji, we will need your blessings and guidance to take the flight into unknown. • So also a yogi established in Sahaja Samadhi, his state is the very consciousness ITSELF, without any interruption, a condition of auto-remembrance. And, it becomes painful aware in mental-physical form when interrupted just like when respirations are forcefully suppressed.

“The success of a player is when he is not worried about the slapping and not attracted by the clapping. The wound of love is very forceful. Only he whose heart has been pierced with the bow of love can know this. None can describe this in words. There is another glimpse of meeting with Him.

Shri Bhavani Shanker is from Bundelkhand and is an

embodiment of love. His practice is filled with love and devotion. He comes often but once he came with such a beauty that I was floored. He was full of feelings.

That day I was seated in our house at Talai Lane,

Fategarh, along with devotees and was discussing God’s ways. It was very pleasant time and I was experiencing the nearness of God. I was fully intoxicated with God’s love. The beauty of it was tremendous. There was a feeling of bliss. At that moment, I got the information that Sri. Bhavani Shankarji along with some devotees was coming by foot from Jhansi to Urai, Kanpur, and on to Fategarh. My mind, which was enjoying the bliss within, became ebullient. I felt as if God Himself was coming in the form of a devotee.

When God Himself is coming in the form of Bhavanji, can I

ever stop? No, never. I will go and welcome him, wherever I find him. I started, and some of the devotees accompanied me. We started off without any preparation. I did not realize that Fatehgarh was left behind, and that I was proceeding towards Navdiya. Here we met the two devotees filled with love. One met many. Nay, many met may more. This was the meeting place. Tears of love were shed. The bed of the Soul is never empty. It always finds it’s beloved. ‘It is everywhere, in everyone and the bliss is endless.”

“We generally lay stress upon meditation apparently on human form. The critics may perhaps consider it suicidal to the spiritual feelings. The case is not so, provided the man meditated upon is one of special calibre, who has come down from the Immaterial Absolute for spiritual training, or has attained the spiritual standard of evolution required for the purpose by supreme self exertion. We take the example of our master, Samartha Sad Guru Shri Mahatma Ram Chandraji Maharaj of Fategarh, U.P. The thing will soon come to light and the world will remember him ever after. He was one with Nature. If we meditate upon such a big soul, the substance we are seeking for will come by itself. If you have selected such a Master as our guide, the problem of life will be easily solved. When we begin to love such a soul which becomes the object of our concentration, Nature’s power then begins to run through us, for the great soul is endowed with such powers. Our emotions and feelings, made worse by our wrong doings, begin now to come in their original form and attain the highest excellence. By original form I mean that as they were at the time when they took the human for the first time. I had already written a letter yesterday and handed it over to Master Saheb, but today I have again become anxious to write you a letter. It seems that the Master is specially very kind to me since yesterday. God knows what was happening within me yesterday evening. It seems as if the eyes have been opened within me. Revered Shri Babuji, I do not know what the matter is, that even forgotten the method of remembering the Master. I ponder a lot but I fail to understand anything. I do not even recollect correctly whether I

ever remembered Him. Once you had said, “you remember the Master” and then I had understood it; but now when I reflect as to how I remembered, it does not even strike to me at all. The sum and substance is that I have even forgotten as to how the Master can be remembered; and what is meaning of the Remembrance of Master. I am doing the work somewhat; the condition seems to be high and deep, because I could not restrain myself from writing but I have written two or three irrelevant things. Tauji and Chotey Bhaiya had come yesterday but the mother has not come. Convey my love to younger brothers.

At the time of doing ‘work, or giving the sitting’, why this thought exists, that, it is definitely being done and work is being carried out very well. Today one thing of the past has come to my mind and I am writing it. Please excuse me for it. When Master Sahib used to say earlier, that, Shri Babuji will take some work from Kasturi, I used to ponder in my heart that our Revered Shri Lalaji loved Shri Babuji very much, and so ’He’ had started taking work from Shri Babuji after thirteen or fourteen years. Hence, I will also do some such work that Shri Babuji may start loving me much and consequently after imparting knowledge he will take work from me, and why I should do now. But now there is nothing like this. Now what pleases the Master will be done willingly and gladly. The condition is some what changed since yesterday, but I have not been able to understand it. If you may think proper, please tell me, “the Master be remembered” otherwise as you may like. Your humble daughter Kasturi

Explanation: Relative experiences can only happen when

the object of experience is connected by the experiencer through the instruments of experiences, the sense organs, No experience is ever possible without the three fundamental factors that constitute an experience called (a) the experience ( Bhokta ) (b) the experienced ( Bhogyam) and (c) the favourable relationship between the above two called the experiencing (Bhoga ). From all of them different (Vilakshna) is me the ‘SELF’ as proposed by the above mantra of scripture.

Pure consciousness is neither the waker, waking, and the

object perceived, nor the dreamer, dreaming, and the dream objects, nor the sleeper, the sleeping, and the total absence of every thing in deep sleep; it is a transcendental experience which is unlike all our present experiences. In order to reach this realm of God-consciousness we are not to involve in them but must learn to transcend by identifying with the SELF; to identify with this SELF is to train to be a witness of all our physical perceptions, mental feelings, and intellectual thoughts.

Conscious of the objects one becomes witness. When the

objects fade away, there is no more witnessing. The witness thus in one becomes “the faculty that gave the capacity to witness” what all that were happening in front of the one. This Pure Consciousness with no objects (Chinmatra) is the Supreme SELF, unconditioned and Free, Immutable and Perfect which is the Reality in the universe. This “Objectless Awareness” (Chinmatra) is unconditioned and unlimited, and is Ever-Auspicious (Sada Sivah).

The path is to withdraw our conscience attachment (approval) from our own vehicles of perception, feeler, and thinker personality in the attitude of witness.

IUSCM Jan. 2001) Yogeshwara Bhagavan Sri Krishna, enunciated the

Doctrine of “Purshothama Conscience” to reconcile the apparently contradicting existence of two Selves viz. kshera and Akshara Purusha in human nature. In Purshothama are both the selves and He is beyond them severally and together. According to “Doctrine of Non Creation’’ (Ajatavada) of sage, Gouda Pada and “Superimposition” Theory (Vivartavada) of Bhagavan Shankara Bhagavadpada, Creation of Universe and life is only an experiential effect of mind and not a “fact of Reality”. Purushothama Conscience (PC) is posited in relation to the ‘Valid conscious mind’ at a given point of time and situation. On involution of mind Purshothama Conscience remains standstill (‘Towards Infinity, P. 28, 2nd ed. 1970 Pub. Sri Ramchandra Mission, Sahajahanpur) as Absolute Consciousness, the parabrahman. Anand is divine peace that does not involve any instrumental means. It is integral to the manifestation of PC, The Reality (SAT). Methodologically, PC involves surrendering all actions, feelings, and thoughts, not withstanding the good or bad quality, to guru. In final stages of yoga practice, PC merges in Guru Conscience. The one established in PC participates as witness in cosmic creation of Universe. Functional Dynamic Meditation of Sahajamarga system of rajayoga helps in attaining PC.

That great Sage Hanuma shone like an elephant in a lake

standing on the foot of that great mountain by the name of Mahendra, where many elephants of good breed resided, which was beautifully decorated with many naturally formed mineral rocks of varied hue like black, white, red, blue, yellow and green and which was surrounded by Godly serpents and Yakshas, Kinnaras, Gandharvas who were capable of assuming desired form together with their families.

(7) Swamiji: ‘’Udasinatha or Nirlaptata’’ is a

thoughtless condition. It is a very high state of spiritual attainment.

It is characterized by Silence (Mauna). It is Conscio-

usness space between two thought waves and is achieved by going beyond the dualities ( Dwandateeta ) of life arriving at ‘Tam-State’ experienced by at 13th knot located at back of the head of occipital prominence.

However caution is needed; because in inertia of mind

(Tamasik) also there, are no thought waves and one feels an empty silent mind like vacuum, which is a dull mind. In India and

Mahathma Ram Chandra Maharaj 111th birthday celebration was organised at H Q., Ashram, Hyderabad on Friday, 30th, April 2010. The Pooja platform and Shri Lalaji Maharaj and Shri Babuji Maharaj Photographs were adorned with new clothes and flowers by Abhyasi, Shri V V Subba Reddy.
