Welcome to the Instant Archive Viewer V4 User Guide
Instant Archive Viewer V4 is an application designed to retrieve the instant messages (IM) dispatched and created by either Microsoft Office Communications Server or Microsoft Lync 2010 These IM messages may be retrieved using both basic and complex search criteria and organized by a particular time or date The application leverages the content that is captured and stored in the LCSLog database ndash which both Microsoft OCS and Microsoft Lync 2010 use as the primary IM message repository
While some applications may require complex powershell or scripting to retrieve and export these IM messages Archive Viewer provides a browser based user interface and does not require any complex programming or scripting knowledge
The Archive Viewer application interacts with the underlying Microsoft SQL server the local instance of Active Directory (AD) and runs as an ASPNet application under Microsoft IIS The design of the application allows standard ASPNet security frameworks as well as standard IIS configurations
Overview
The application has 5 main sections
1) Administrator (Basic Settings and Database Settings) 2) End User Search 3) Extended Search 4) Search and Discovery 5) Charting amp Reporting
After the Archive Viewer application has been installed the main landing page is available at the following URL
