Installing the WD My Cloud Backup Device
The existing network attached storage device, WD My Book World, in each county office is old and unreliable. To make sure your files and folders continue to be backed up on a continuous basis, your office has been given a new device to install. The WD My Cloud backup device is to be connected to your office’s network. You can simply disconnect the existing WD backup device and replace it with the WD My Cloud device. Then, every computer user in the office will use this handout to make sure his/her computer is set up to “talk” with the new device for the purpose of backing up critical files and folders. This handout has multiple sections to guide you through the various processes: uninstalling the WD Anywhere Backup software, installing the WD Smartware software, setting up the backup, and (in the event you need it) retrieving your backup from the device. Let’s get started!
Uninstallation of WD Anywhere Backup Note: You can skip this section if you are connecting a new computer to the WD My Cloud backup device. 1. Click on [Start] and then click on [Control Panel].

2. If your Control Panel view is set to “Category,” then click on [Uninstall a program] in the Programs category. Continue to step 4.
3. If your Control Panel view is set to either “Small Icons” or “Large Icons,” then click on [Programs and Features].
