Upgrading the TSM Server
You will need a full database backup, a copy of the volume history and device configuration files.

IBM Tivoli Storage Manager 5.3 requires any package prior to version 5.3 to be uninstalled prior to installing version 5.3. When installing version 5.3 you will get a message if TSM detects a previous version already installed on your system.

Device Support
Before migrating your Tivoli Storage Manager server, ensure that the new server provides support for your current storage devices. Refer to the Device Support section of the Tivoli Storage Manager Web site at:

Installing the Integrated Solutions Console and Administration Center
The new Integrated Solutions Console and the Administration Center may be installed on a separate machine from the TSM server, or on the same machine.

Following is a step by step description of the installation procedure for the Administration Center. The Administration Center is installed as an IBM Integrated Solutions Console (ISC) component.

Use Your Installation Guide
Refer to the Installation Guide for your operating system. The steps described in this presentation show the installation of the Administration Center on Windows.
Perform installation in two steps:
1. Install the Integrated Solutions Console using the CD provided.
2. Install the Administration Center using the CD provided.
Insert the CD into your CD drive, and it will run automatically.
