What is Maxem?

From the main grid panel, Maxem measures the energy use in the house and the energy

generation of solar panels. Based on this information, it manages the power between the

building and multiple charging stations. This way there is no risk of over current on the grid

connection and it is easier to utilize the produced solar power. Also more charging stations

can be installed than normal.

4 5

Safely install more charging stations athigher power without the risk of overloading the grid connection. Maxem controls the charge capacity of each charging station per second.

More charging stations

Install up to 250 charging stations to let the charge park grow over time with the increase electric vehicles. Maxem is easily expanded.

Flexible expansion

Maxem optimizes energy flows in the building.

Maxem

Grid

Maxem measures the power generation of solar panels. Maxem is able to control the charging stations based on this generation. This way you make 100% use of your own renewable energy!

Solar panels

Maxem optimizes the power consumption of the main grid connection to prevent over current. This way you can save significantly on an expensive grid upgrade.

Maxem must be connected to a wired Internet connection. The following is needed:

• Modem or router connected to Internet.

• A DHCP connection from the network to Maxem.

• Maxem should be able to do DNS requests.

• Maxem may also be placed in a DMZ (demilitarized zone) on a separate VLAN.

• Outbounddatatrafficmustbepossibleoverports80,443,1194t/m1200and9090.

• Phillips screwdriver, size small.

• Slotted screwdriver, size mini < 3mm.

• Slotted screwdriver size large.

• RJ45 (8P8C) crimper.

• RJ10 (4P4C) crimper.

• Cable Tester for UTP cables.

• Internet connected smartphone, tablet or laptop.

Maxemisacontrolsystemthatregulatestheloadofthechargingstation.Maxemoffersan

intelligent layer of protection on top of the circuit breakers. This is done in the following way:

• When an over current is measured on the main grid connection, the power of the

charging stations is immediately adjusted downwards.

• When the over current is too high, Maxem is able to pause one or more charging

stations until more capacity is available again.

Therefore it is possible to fuse the charging stations at a higher rate than normal. All charging

stations can be fused at their maximum power capacity, but a fuse of a single charging

station may never be higher than the capacity of the main grid connection.

06-Configurationandcommissioning

In case of unsuccessful installations Maxem is unable to send a power limiting value to the charging stations, resulting in OVERLOAD OF THE GRID CONNECTION. Therefore, make sure that the installation has been successful!

Turn on the charging stations or reboot them by cutting the power supply for at least

30 seconds. Wait at least 1 minute for the charging stations to boot.

Connect the 230V power to Maxem.

TroubleshootingAppendix 3 - Crimping RJ-connectors

30

Required tools and material

• Crimping pliers (suitable for RJ10 and / or RJ45 plugs)

• Scissors or cutters

• Sharp (Stanley) knife

• RJ10 or RJ45 plugs

Steps

Cut the wires in a straight line with a pair of pliers in order to have them all with the

same length.

Strip approximately 3 cm of the outer cover with a sharp (Stanley) knife. The individual

wires should not be damaged.

A.

B.

Insert the wires into the RJ10 or RJ45 connector. Make sure that the wires are placed in

the correct order. For the RJ10 connector it is recommended to place 2 additional wires

for strain relief.

C.

Make sure that the wires are inserted deep enough into the connector in order to have

themfirmlyfixed.

D.

Place the connector with the inserted cable into the pliers. Clench it in order to have

thewiressecuredandexposed. Itmaybenecessary toclench thepliersfirmly two

times or more.

E.

Double-check that all cores are fully inserted. If this is not done correctly, the cable

will not work properly.1234
