  • Procedures for installing mobile GInfo (mGInfo) app in IOS-based devices

    A. REGISTRATION

    Only registered IOS-based devices will be allowed to run the mGInfo application. Afterfirst installation (see Section B for details) of the mGInfo, please launch the application and carry out the on-line registration as follows (re-registration is not required when updated version of mGInfo is installed, unless the settings of your mobile device has been changed):

    In the Login page, click the 'Registration' icon and input 'CEDD Post' and 'Name' for on-line registration. Anonymous registration will not be entertained. Please then press the 'Submit' button. Registration will normally be activated within one working day.

  • B. INSTALLATION

    1. For IOS-based devices provided under the Workplace Mobile Services (WMS) by theDepartment, the mGInfo can be installed from the McAfee EMM which should have been pre-installed.

    (a) Locate the McAfee EMM and start the program

  • (b) Select “Recommended Applications” and then GInfoMap for installation

    Remarks: Under normal circumstance, there is no need to uninstall the mGInfo if it has previously been installed. You would try to uninstall the previous mGInfo if problems are encountered, otherwise, please seek technical support from CSU or SS Division.

    Click GInfoMap to install the app

    Select “Recommended Applications”

  • 2. For installing the mGInfo on the IOS-based devices which are not provided under WMS bythe Department,

    (a) Download the app from the GInfo portal, then save the file to your computer and connect your device to iTunes (Not supported in version 12.7 or above). http://ginfo.cedd.hksarg/arcgisweb/mobileapps/mobileapps.aspx

    (b) Syncing the apps to the IOS-based devices via the iTunes

    (ii) Please start the iTunes (you are recommended to update to the latest version ) in your PC, click the icon at the upper left corner of the iTunes, select “File” and then “Add files to Library”, select the files recently downloaded from the GInfo portal.

    (c) In your iTunes, go to your device and click the app tab.

    (i) Check that the GInfoMap app appears in your list then select the “Install”.(ii) Click sync or “套用”

  • (d) Configuration of Device Management

    (i) Select the “CEDD” developer under the IOS Settings > General > Device Management

    (ii) Trust the certificate issued by CEDD Developer.

    (e) Turn off “Limit AD Tracking” feature under the IOS Settings > Privacy > Advertising

    1. Logging in (a) In the 'Login Page', type ‘guest’ as the password and click 'Login' icon to login. (b) In the 'Module Home Page', tap either “GInfoMap”, “Landslip Warning System” or “Enhanced

    Remarks: Only some key operations/functions are given in this operation manual. Users are encouraged to explore the full functionalities through practical usage. Any feedback/suggestions/ comments are very welcomed.

    Drag the bar to change the transparency of the overlay

  • 4. Project schema

  • 5. Showing underlying layers in a schema (Default setting only turns the feature layer on)

    Tap layer’s name to turn it on/off

  • 6. Searching of slopes, street, building, lamp post, lot number and coordinates (English and Chinese is allowed for searching street and building name)

  • 7. Selecting feature

    Tap and hold until a magnifier appears. The cross indicates the current selection position. Release the tap action and the selection of feature will base on the location of the cross.

  • 9. Landslip Warning System Module

    Tap to show other rainstorms-related warnings (e.g. Landslip Warning, Black, Red and Amber Rainstorm Warning, Special announcement on flooding in the Northern New Territories)

    Tap to show the rainfall data in table form

    Tap to show the picture in larger format

  • 11. Radar and Satellite images

    Tap to show the picture in larger format

  • 12. Landslip Warning Curve

    13. Forecast Rainfall (1-hour and 3-hour forecasts)

  • 14. Landslip Warning Status

    Consultation, Alert and Landslip Warning Level will appear depending on the rainfall and predicted number of landslides

    Check whether cancellation criteria have been met (after issue of Landslip Warning)

    Date and time of the rainfall data fetched

    Forecast rainfall from HKO

    Highest 24 hours rainfall will appear first

    Tap to show more details of rainfall level for raingauge locations

  • 15. Natural Terrain Landslip Alert

    Zonation for computing natural terrain landslide risks

    Forecast based on HKO data on every 12 minutes for each zone

    Date and time of the rainfall data fetched
