Chapter 1Installation

This chapter provides information on installing the Reserver for Lotus Notes application. Topics include:

• Overview• Installation requirements• Installing the server software• Installing the client software (centralized method)• Uninstalling the server software• Uninstalling the client software• Restoring the standard Lotus Notes NTF files

Installation 1-1

Page 10: Installation and Administration Guide - Avaya · 1-4 Reserver for Lotus Notes 1.2 Installation and Administration Guide Installing the components In a typical enterprise environment,

OverviewReserver for Lotus Notes is a client/server application, which displays customized Lotus Notes forms that users can access to schedule audio and data conferences.

The Reserver for Lotus Notes application is supported by a Lotus Notes database file (.NSF), which includes forms, fields, folders, views, and other presentation features like database icons. When you have several databases on a server that you want to standardize, you can use a Domino template file (.NTF), which is structurally identical to a database but only includes design elements. The database files (NSFs) inherit the design elements that are set up in the template.

Spectel provides a modified mail template that you copy from the Program Files directory to the <Lotus installation drive>\Lotus\Domino\Data folder. Then, you can update all or selected client database mail files (NSFs) with the Reserver for Lotus Notes NTF template by running a load convert command. For instructions, see “Converting the standard client NTF files” on page 1-7.

Here are two important points to consider:

• The original Lotus Notes NSF and NTF files remain intact in the Domino Mail server directory.

• You can restore the original configuration by entering a single load convert command. For more information, see “Restoring the standard Lotus Notes NTF files” on page 1-10.
