Installing actions in PSE 7 and higher | Effects Palette

* Download and save the action files .

* Click on the folder

* PSE 7 and higher Effects Palette (for Elements 7 of higher you can install the actions

2 way Effects Palette and Action Player. I will go over the Action Player installation

later on. )

* You will see 3 types of files one ending in the .ATN suffix and one ending in .PNG

and one ending in .XML

* Select all the files and copy them into the Photo Effects folder following this path:

WINDOWS 7 – for PSE 8 and 9

■ Start Menu/Computer/C Drive/Program Data (NOT THE SAME AS PROGRAM FILES)/Adobe/Photoshop Elements/8.0 (9.0 for PSE 9 )/Photo Creations/Photo Effects

■ Make sure Program Data is not hidden. To check go to Start and put “folder options” in the “search proms and files”. Go and click the VIEW tab in the Folder Options dialog box. Click SHOW HIDDEN FILES, FOLDERS, DRIVES

WINDOWS XP PSE 7, 8 and 9

■ Start Menu/ My Computer/C Drive/Documents and Settings/All users/ Application Data /Adobe/Photoshop Elements/7.0 (Choose your version here 7.0, 8.0 or 9.0

■ If you don’t see Application Data make sure it’s not hidden. Go to Start/Control Panel/Classic View/Folder Options/View - select Show Hidden Files and Folders

WINDOWS VISTA for PSE 7, 8 and 9

■ Start Menu/Computer/C Drive/Program Data (NOT THE SAME AS PROGRAM FILES)/Adobe/Photoshop Elements/7.0 ( Choose your version 7.0 8.0 or 9.0)/Photo Creations/Photo Effects

MAC

■ System Library/Application Support/Adobe/Photoshop Elements/9.0/Photo Creations/Photo Effects

■ There are two libraries on Macs make sure you go to the the one from your hard drive System Library

■ Now go back to System Library/Application Support/Adobe/Photoshop Elements/ 9.0 / Locale/ en_US

■ Rename the Mediadatabase.db3 to MediadatabaseOLD.db3 ■ Close Elements and restart it. If it’s taking a while to restart you know

you install the actions correct since Elements will take a while to rebuild a new database with the new actions.

* Click on the folder PSE 7 and higher Action Player

* Select the ATN file and copy it to the following path:

Once installation is complete go to the Guided Edit menu and choose Action
