The first ceiling that I had to break was the mindset of people who I was approaching for capital. Women were not seen in the business environment. The bankers and financial institutions were very reluctant to lend money to women - they considered it was very risky.

My gender was a barrier not just with financial institutions but also with people. When they realized that I was the managing director, they would be horrified and could not accept a 25-year old jeans-clad young lady to be the MD. Many would decline the offer and walk away.
