Also, new elastomeric bearings have been installed at both abutments. All begin bearings are slightly expanded at today's 70 degree F temperatures. End bearings are slightly expanded or vertical. The end left corner of Begin bearing 1 elastomer is raised off its pedestal about 1/8" such that the begin side is compressed 1/4" more than the end at left. Begin bearing 1 rates 6 while all others rate 7.

All other pedestals rate higher. The bridge seat is spalled up to 4" deep in bay 1 at end corner with rusted rebar exposed. The remainder of the bridge seat is delaminated along 60% of its length with efflorescence and exudations.

There is spalling at various locations totalling 15 sq ft+/-.

Note ID: 4C1110709100004 Approaches: Guide Railing -- Rated 4, Was 4 Referenced Photos: "7" The begin left concrete jersey barrier appears cracked, delaminated and spalled to rusted rebar. This railing rates 4 and all other approach railing would rate a 5 or higher.

Note ID: 4C1110709100005 Span 001 -- Superstructure: Paint -- Rated 4, Was 4 Span 002 -- Superstructure: Paint -- Rated 4, Was 4 Referenced Photos: "8" Rusting A588 steel has flakes up to dime-size in spots throughout, especially under abutment joints and over roadways. Areas nearest main girder lower flanges are most severely affected. About a third of the steel area is so affected; remaining "paint" appears mostly intact.
