Documents are created and signed by contractual partners in many business processes. Normally, this is where the digital process chain mostly ends; insurance proposals, SEPA direct debit mandates, privacy policies, account agreements, receipts etc. are printed, signed on paper and passed on via fax or email – maybe even rescanned immediately and sent via email. The paper-less inSign process enables a continuous electronic

procedure including electronic signatures. Thereby, legal requirements governed by German law according to BGB, VVG and BDSG were considered. Due to high prevalence and acceptance especially in insurance sales and distribution, electronic signatures using inSign can be seen as de facto standard.

Bring Your Own DeviceinSign uses smartphones and/or tablets. This offers logistically simple and economical handling making electronic signatures practical for insurance agents and mobile application. Supplementary integration of signature pads and pens are also feasible.

No media discontinuityinSign does not require you to print any documents for signature. Instead, customers or contractual partners receive all paperwork electronically.

Customer accessinSign also offers a solution for customers who find themselves unable to place any immediate signa-tures: the customers receive online access for their documents without the need of email transfer.

This is especially useful for additional forms, business support or online scenarios: it saves (travelling) time, enables new business models and increases service quality and response rates.

The inSign technology guarantees maximum flexibility offering a wide range of possibilities beyond stand-ard functionality. The users themselves can choose between the application- or web-based device installa-tions of inSign.

inSign can be integrated flexibly in different system environments. Additionally, there is an offline version for Windows plus online/offline hybrid variants. Also, direct integration of inSign signature input fields into your website is also possible.

Evidential valueThe signature consists of an image, biometric data and complementary information as basis for a legal report:

• Speed of writing

• Write direction and pauses

• Document checksum

• Position within the document

• Date and time

Additional information such as photo or GPS data can also be stored. The inSign signature is saved in original quality and can be matched to the signee in case of litigation.

All documents and biometric signature data are encrypted tamper-proof. The encryption process is asymmetric, the private key is held by an independent body, e.g. a notary.

Process/WorkflowinSign was developed based on a process description for application form processing which was designed with “mindtrace Stieber Beratung” and assessed by Prof. Dr. Hoeren, Prof. Dr. Schirmer and Prof. Dr. Roßnagel.

The SignatureThe inSign signature was conclusively examined by an officially qualified handwriting expert and evaluated pos-itively in an expert assessment.

Service Innovation PrizeinSign was rewarded the Service Innovation Prize by an outstanding jury consisting of Prof. Dr. Lothar Müller-Hagedorn, Prof. Dr. Matthias Beenken, Prof. Dr. Christoph J. Börner, Prof. Dr. Michaele Völler and Dr. Ol-iver Gaedeke.

Independent evaluation

All documents and biometric signature data used in inSign are encrypted and protected against manipulation. This process implements the BiPRO Norm 262.

The encryption method is asymmetrical;the private key is deposited at an independent body, e.g. a notary public.
