• Supported by a local infrastructure or support and development organisation
• Inclusive of the range of VSCE organisations in the area and reflective of the Home Office community safety priorities and local priorities

The role of the local safer future communities network
• Gather information and evidence around local community safety needs and how the VCSE can contribute to meeting these
• Influence the PCC candidates’ manifestos
• Influence the PCCs crime and policing plan
• Ensure excluded groups and the vulnerable are heard and represented
• Build links between the network and other strategic partners
• Provide evidence of the success and impact of the network and of lessons for policy makers and practitioners

• Co-ordinate and manage a diverse network
• Identify training and support needs of network partners
• Provide evidence of the success and impact of the network and of lessons for policy makers and practitioners

Process for identifying network support organisations

• Expressions of interest were sought from local support and development organisations
• Opportunity advertised through NAVCA membership
• Applications assessed based on relevant experience in community safety field, network creation and influencing commissioners
