An architect uses a blueprint to describe an architecture. This allows him to clearly describe the different aspects of his construction. In the same way, a tool is required to allow enterprise architects to describe the IT architecture of an enterprise, so they can represent and analyze the development of business processes, organizational structures, information flows, application systems and infrastructure.

Nowadays, enterprise architects use an array of different tools for completing their tasks. They range from Office appli-cations to modeling tools for business processes and UML. All this is integrated into Innovator for Enterprise Architects.

Modeling of enterprise architecture

The most important part of Innovator for Enterprise Architects is an editor for modeling enterprise architectures with ArchiMate® 2.0 (The Open Group standard). In addition to this standard, you can also capture requirements from stakeholders, organizational structures and chronological developments through

Gap analysis

It is possible to model the change history of the architecture with the help of ArchiMate®'s implementation & migration extension. The development stages of the architecture are modeled in the form of gaps to describe their differences, representing the results of a gap analysis. Freely configurable documentation generation in HTML and Word is a strength of Innovator for Enterprise Architects. In addition to the model, a gap analysis is generated using documentation which is pre-configured by our experts in the form of a Microsoft Word document. In this way, you can create transparency and quick, flexible means for analysis.Development stages of the architecture can be directly contrasted and compared. This provides additional support for the verification of enterprise architectures.

Portfolio analysis

A portfolio analysis of certain elements of an enterprise architecture can be performed using the export of portfolio graphics from Innovator for Enterprise

FeaturesArchitects. A number of elements are contrasted with each other in two dimensions, e.g. business processes can be evaluated using freely configurable key figures. They are then exported to Excel at the push of a button, where they are represented as a portfolio graphic. This form of visualization allows a simple comparison or a grouping of business processes based on their position.Gradients, or the size of the represen-tations in the diagram can be used to include additional information in the graphic. This makes it possible to present a clear overview of, for example, strategic contribution, added value, cost and risk of business processes.Portfolio graphics are a common means of decision making in strategic IT planning and project portfolio manage-ment. Portfolio graphics can also be used to compare information systems or projects, in addition to business processes. They offer real added value when it comes to arranging information in a compact and clear manner.
