OUR STORYBased in Portland, Maine and founded by Maine native husband and wife design team Angela Adams and Sherwood Hamill, angela adams offers unique, handcrafted modern area rugs and furniture.
Since the beginning, each piece has been designed by hand by Angela and Sherwood, and then made by hand, using traditional craftsmanship techniques. Our rugs are handmade by skilled artisans in India, and our furniture is handcrafted by master furniture makers in our Portland, Maine shop.
Founded in 1998, the company was an overnight sensation with critics and trade designers alike, providing heirloom-quality modern pieces for inspired spaces.

AREA RUGS
We offer an extensive library of custom wool rug designs, made to-order in custom sizes, colors, and constructions.
CUSTOM
Each rug is handmade with 100% New Zealand wool, featuring 4-ply yarn and 80 Tufts per square inch. The pile height is 1⁄2” with edges crushing to 1⁄4”, making them superior quality floor coverings with lower pile heights that are easier to navigate in high traffic areas.
QUICK SHIP
For immediate needs, our curated collection of Quick Ship pieces can be shipped within 72 hours from our Portland, Maine warehouse.
Hand-tufted, hand-knotted and hand-woven constructions provide pile height options to suit every environment. Most Quick Ship area rugs are available in the following standard sizes:

FURNITURE
Each piece of furniture is handcrafted in our Portland, Maine shop and can be customized to meet the unique needs of your project. Using fine domestic hardwoods, signature finishes and custom hardware, individual pieces are built to order allowing for dimensional and finish variations.
