Innovation and quality in animal nutrition

About us

Quality and Environment

ESASA’s trajectory began in 1990 in the Valladolid town of Cabezón de Pisuerga. Our business is geared toward the development and production of raw materials for animal feed. Our effort, dedication and strong spirit of innovation help us to achieve significant technological advances in cereal processing, collaborating with various universities to ensure the best results.

Moreover, since 2005 we have a legume product micronization system which allows us to use different fractions of protein and starch separately, improving the organoleptic properties of raw materials and facilitating compaction. This significant development boosts the range and quality of our products.

At ESASA we are committed to quality and we take everything related to it very seriously. We comply with the ISO 9001 standard, ensuring the traceability, composition and food safety associated with our business.

We are equally demanding in our commitment to the Environment, since our products are non-toxic and leave no residue. We have an innovative two-engine cogeneration plant which ensure proper drying and cooling of the treated products (water and steam), allowing us to add more water during cooking times thus reducing environmental pollution.

Internal and external, certified labs undertake routine checks to ensure the microbiological

quality of our final product.

International Outlook As a result of our intense activity, in recent years we have expanded our horizons, exporting to North America, South America, Europe and Asia. We continue innovating and improving to reach new, ambitious goals.

We offer custom mix solutions. We adapt to our customers’ needs.

COOKING GRAINS AND LEGUMESPreparationThrough a continuous mixer, we add water to achieve the moisture necessary for appropriate processing of each cereal/legume.

CookingWe boil each product separately in a continuous-flow four-section reactor. There, we add water and steam at high pressures (as per the particular needs of each recipe). In this process, moisture reaches 35-40% at temperatures of 100-115 °C. This process lasts approximately one hour, ensuring proper cook-ing without damaging the components of each food.

Laminating (cereals only)Cereals undergo a crushing process with two smooth rollers and steam to fix the starch structure.

Expanding (legumes only)This hydrothermal process is performed by a high-pressure and high-temper-ature expander in a short period (less than 5 seconds). The aim is to achieve the breakage of cell walls, making nutrients more digestible and ensuring greater destruction of anti-nutritional factors.

Drying and coolingThis process begins with a dryer/cooler comprising three extract conveyor belts, one for drying and two for cooling. The process lasts 15 minutes and results in products with less than 14% moisture and a temperature of 20 °C.

Benefits of the treatment Our experience and in-depth research of each raw material helps us determine the proper values for appropriate treatment and maximum efficiency.

• We ensure the protein structure integrity: By using milder temperatures, we eliminate the anti-nutritional factors, prevent-ing the Maillard reactions typical in harsher treatments.

• Correct handling of starch: By using more water and steam than in other harsher treatments, we can ensure that there is no retrograded starch, which is more indigestible than starch in its natural state.

• Palatability: Food taste is enhanced with processes involving cooking processes.

• Raw materials are treated separately: Each raw material boasts optimum treatment conditions (moisture, temperature and time) that give them the best characteristics in terms of digestibility.

• Choice of mixtures: Customization and mix of products according to customer needs.

We use the most appropriate technical and human resources for treating our products.

• Improvements in feed conversion rate and increased digestive use of starch, since glucose is more efficient than the volatile fatty acids produced in the large intestine.

• Enhanced palatability of feed and contribution to the increase of solid food intake and the gradual replacement of lacto-replacements.

• Increase in average daily gain.

• Less anti-diarrhoea medication because of the smaller amount of fermentable substrate reaching the large intestine and increased lactic acid production in the stomach.

• Smaller tails, resulting in more uniform litters.

• Improved energy value as a result of increased fat digestibility.

• Increased digestibility of protein as a consequence of the reduction of anti-nutritional factors and protein denaturation.

Advantages for ruminants animals• High digestibility of starch in diet while maintaining the fibre effect.

• Reduction of the undegradable fraction of ruminal starch, increasing the efficiency of amylolytic ruminal flora.

• Greater neosynthesis of milk protein by improving and increasing the proportion of highly digestible by-pass protein in the intestine.

• Reduction of antinutritional factors in legumes and protein crops stemming from our heat treatment.

• Partial hydrogenation of fats present in ingredients. Advantageous for improving cheese extract in sheep and much needed to be able to concentrate energy in early lactation rations or high-volume producers.

• Improves hygiene of products and health status of animals

• Enhances homogeneity in Unifeed mixtures.

Cooked and corn flakes

> PackageEn sacos, en big bags o a granel.

> Benefit• Starch digestibility in the rumen can reach 91%.• Starch by-pass digestibility in the ileum is 98%.• Thanks to its processing and presentation it can be used as up to 75% of the diet for fattening a calf, improving body mass and increasing growth rate.• Ideal for starter feed and high-producing animals.
