HOW TO PREPARE A MUNICIPAL BYELAW TO FOSTER SUSTAINABLE REFURBISHING
Approach when preparing a byelaw regarding refurbishing residential buildings, and for housing units and commercial premises.
• Establishing a score for the refurbishing work depending on the type to be carried out. • Byelaw model collated by the technicians and validated by the municipal politicians. • Adding a specific document (annex) to the project documents that includes all the sustainability measures envisaged in the project. • Establishing mandatory minimum conditions. • Establishing eco-efficiency, environmental and sustainability parameters with which the refurbishing works have to comply.

ECOLOGICAL PURIFICATION SYSTEM FOR SCATTERED POCKETS OF POPULATION
What does this
system involve?• Artificial or natural ponds or pools, that are shallow (0.2-1m) and with a slope less than 5%. • Installing a macrophyte plant filter (characteristic of wet zones) on the surface of the water by means of a mesh. • System suitable for: small populations (with under 2000 inhabitants) and which have and available land surface area of around 6.5 m2/inhabitant.

• Preparing the site: cleaning the perimeter, fencing, preparing the disposal unit. • Planting macrophytes: 1) Installing the mesh. 2) Extracting solids. • Study of the suitability of the setting-site.
