Starting with a meager students strength of 109 in the single faculty of Arts, this institution
has presently grown into a multi-faculty, huge structured attractive establishment to impart education
in the fields of Arts, Commerce, Management, Computer Science & Agricultural Science etc. Hailing
its wonderful progress and overall performance, the Punjabi University, Patiala has already declared
this College as the of the University. "Model College"
To remain always in tune with changing world scenario & keeping in mind the requirements
of any modern education system the College started teaching Computer Education, first to Commerce
and Arts students and later opened a full fledged Computer Department. It was one of the first three
Colleges of Punjabi University to have introduced Post Graduate Diploma in Computer Applications
(P.G.D.C.A.) in the year 1996-97.
This was with a view to diversifying the scheme of things & keeping pace with the emerging
trends in the entire educational scenario in which Computer Education is becoming the order of the
day, this college started Three Years from the Bachelor's Degree in Computer Applications (B.C.A.)
year 2001-02 under the affiliation of Punjabi University, Patiala. Most of the students after completing
their B.C.A. & P.G.D.C.A. from this College got absorbed in Computer Industry, Educational
Institutions, Financial Establishments and Business Organizations etc.

Public College, Samana, established in the year 1969 under the chairmanship of Sh. S. L.
Kapoor I.A.S., the then Deputy Commissioner of Patiala, has been providing excellent services in the
field of higher education in this predominantly rural and backward area in the district of Patiala. This
multi-faculty co-educational college fulfills the educational needs of about hundred villages around
Samana in a radius of more than 35 Kms. Presently, the college is functioning under the able guidance
of I.A.S., Deputy Commissioner, Patiala as its Chairman, Sh. Kumar Amit, S. Manjit Singh Cheema,

Ecological imbalances, the environmental threats & climatic changes fast occurring the world over.
India is fast emerging as an economic power in the world in the time to come and is
supposed to open vast employment market in the fields of Industry, commerce, business, finance,
trade and marketing etc. Starting of Management Course at graduate level i.e. Bachelor of Business
Administration (B.B.A.) & strengthening of already ongoing computer courses are helping to prepare
trained and skilled man power as per the requirements of new world economic order.
To cope with ever increasing demand of students seeking admission to commerce stream,
college has added at Under Graduate Level and at Post Graduate B.Com. (Professional) M.Com.
Level from session 2014-15. Similarly, keeping in mind the strength of students opting for History as
a subject at Under Graduate Level, college has added a Post Graduate course in History i.e. Master
of Arts in History from session 2014-15.
To strengthen its curriculum, College has added to add Science stream at Under Graduate
Level i.e. from the session i.e. 2015-16.B.Sc. (Medical & Non-Medical)
On demand from students, college started two Post Graduate Courses i.e. M.Sc. (I.T.)
regular two year course & from the session 2007-08. M.A. in Punjabi M.Sc. (I.T.) Lateral Entry
(One year course) has been introduced from the academic year 2010-11. Further, with the aim to
encourage our students with literary interests and cater to the interest of the students of Samana &
nearby area, the college started a to provide a platform for Post Graduate (M.A.) Course in English
students to not only enrich themselves in English Literature but also improve their Job Profile.
Recognizing the place and position of Agricultural sector not only in Punjab or India
but also in the entire world, the college has introduced a course in Agriculture Science at Graduation
level i.e. B.Sc. (Agriculture) from the year 2010-11. This four year course will B.Sc. in Agriculture
produce professionally trained graduates to make them able to understand and solve the problems
of this ever important and basic sector of the economy. Degree holders in this field have bright future
in areas of higher studies, research institutions, agro based and food processing industry and
numerous self employment avenues in domestic market & abroad in countries like Australia, Canada,
New Zealand and particularly in African and European Countries.

The college caters to the educational needs of not only the local students but also of
students from the neighboring areas. As the college has achieved its aim of imparting education to
more and more girls students of the surrounding rural areas, the strength of girl students has also
sufficiently increased & currently they are almost equal to the strength of boys. Keeping in mind the
requirements of a large number of girls coming from far-away places, Hostel facility is available
to provide them with suitable accommodation.
To inculcate the reading habits the college has a very big attractive computerized Library
housed with more than 26,000 books 50 monthly magazines and journals. College and more than
has subscribed for N-List from INFLIBNET to access e-material which includes 3,800 e-journals &
80,000 books etc. Apart from academics the college is also concerned about the overall personality
development of its students. The college has huge sports infrastructure which includes Eight Lane
Track, Squash Court, Swimming Pool, Tennis Court, Table Tennis Tables, Boxing Ring, Basket Ball
Court and Multi-Station Gym. A number of students have benefitted from these facilities and the
students have won laurels for the college. To spread the feelings of brotherhood and national
integration the college also offers to the students. N.C.C., N.S.S. and Youth Welfare activities
The college campus is spread over a stretch of about comprising of 35 acres of land
huge administrative block, sufficient spacious class rooms, three air conditioned Computer Labs with
internet facility, Smart Classrooms, Home Science, Music, Psychology, Geography, well equipped
Biology, Agricultural Labs Language Lab. Open Air Theater, and Beside this, college has an
Multipurpose Hall & a number of spacious & beautiful lawns which give scenic beauty to the campus
and provides pollution free academic environment.
In nutshell this college really provides a vast academic curriculum through a network of
vocational, professional and general courses with the avowed aim of increasing employability and
marketability of its outgoing students. On the basis of its rich infrastructure, content and extent of
courses offered and the level of instructions imparted in a very calm and congenial atmosphere, one
can rightly say that this institutions presents a perfect and healthy place to offer blend of professional
and vocational education along with traditional courses in Arts and Commerce.

Eligibility for M.Sc. (I.T.) Lateral Entry:
Students who have passed P.G.D.C.A. with 50% marks (with three year graduation) are eligible for
admission to M.Sc. (I.T.) Lateral Entry.

Admission To B.Sc. (Agriculture) Part I
Eligibility for Admission:
A Candidate who has passed not less than one academic year previously with atleast 45% marks
in the aggregate and with Science and Agriculture group; the 10+2 examination from any Statutory Board
or any other examination recognized by the Academic Council as equivalent there to.

Fee of the Programme:
Annual fee for B.Sc. (Agriculture) is & will be divided in two installments. Apart fromRs. 32,500/-
this Examination fee will be charged as per University norms.
The Course for the degree of B.Sc. (Agriculture) shall be spread over 4 years (Eight Semesters). The
Examination of odd semesters shall be held in the month of November/December & the examination of even
semesters shall be held in the month of April/May or on such other dates as may be fixed by the university.

B.C.A. is a three year Bachelor Degree Programme in Computer Applications. The course for
