• • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • INVITATIONPlanning for the Melbourne to Brisbane Inland Rail has commenced with $300 million dollars allocated in the federal budget for corridor acquisition and rail alignment. The Honourable Warren Truss, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure has established an Implementation Group chaired by former Deputy Prime Minister, John Anderson to fast track the Inland Railway with construction to commence within three years and be completed within 10 years. The time is now to become involved and have your say on how this Corridor of Opportunity is developed, hence we invite your business to sponsor the Melbourne to Brisbane Inland Rail Symposium 2014, which will be held on 7 March 2014 in Moree, New South Wales. Involvement as a sponsor offers long lasting benefits well beyond the close of the event.

The Symposium will provide an opportunity to look at the linkages that transport provides to a collaborative, fully integrated freight supply chain to maintain Australia’s international competitiveness. It will also allow dialogue to continue, building the knowledge base and enhancing the capacity to inform policy decisions and appropriate construction of the Melbourne to Brisbane Inland Rail as a nation building project.

The Symposium is expecting an attendance of 150-200 delegates from rail, road, port, agriculture, resources and other key industries, as well as all levels of government to consider a holistic view of inter modal transport management.

We urge you to contact us at your earliest convenience to ensure you receive the greatest level of exposure.

• • • • • • • • • • • • ABOUT MOREEMoree is a progressive and dynamic town located in north western New South Wales along the New South Wales and Queensland border and situated at the heart of NSW’s northern wheat belt.

It has a Mediterranean style climate making it highly adaptable to alternative farming enterprises.

• • • • • • • • • • • • THE PROGRAMeUnder the overall theme, Melbourne to Brisbane Inland Rail – Corridor of Opportunity, the one day conference program will be driven by three key themes:

1. The role of private industry and all levels of Government in the Inland Rail task.

2. How we collaborate to get the best 21st Century Inland Rail result.

3. Economic development opportunities for Regional Australia.

Melbourne to Brisbane Inland Rail AllianceSupport and recognition of the importance of the Melbourne to Brisbane Inland Railway has been increasing since the Melbourne to Brisbane Inland Rail Symposium held in Parkes in June 2012. From which the below communiqué was decided upon:For the betterment of the Nation, delegates to this Symposium call on the current and future Commonwealth Governments of Australia and the Queensland, Victorian and New South Wales Governments and local authorities along the route to set common timelines and budgets and commit to build the Melbourne to Brisbane Inland Rail, to future-standards, during the current decade.

Similar enthusiasm was generated after the 2006 Symposium, which resulted in the formation of the Melbourne to Brisbane Inland Rail Alliance (Alliance).

Parkes and Moree Plains Shire Councils are in the process of re-establishing the Alliance and have written to every Council along the route asking them to approve a Council resolution supporting the Melbourne to Brisbane Inland Rail. To date over 75% of the Councils have responded positively to this request. The Mayor of Parkes Cr Ken Keith is currently acting as interim Alliance chair and the Deputy Mayor of Moree Plains Cr Sue Price is the interim Deputy Chair.
