We start off the day as usual…eating!
Fry bread, was patted, shaped and cooked right before our eyes.
Fried ‘til golden brown, delight found in good grease.
There is delight in the calories!
The journaling begins…
While the cooking continues!

Act 2: Ninetta Papadomichelaki
Say that last name 5 times fast!
Next, we have lunch.
Then we’re off to our last writing group meeting for the summer.
We all know the familiar sight of the Author’s Chair.
And the voices sing.
A Found Poem in the Gettysburg Address.
A simple goodbye,
A connection made,
A sharing of the future,
An end to the beginning.
Reflections of a summer,
A six pack of writing,
Pineapple upside down cake,
A grandpa with a fire
in his underpants.
She is a chaparral,
Beans on a stove,
and
A patina of the years,
She is.
Think of cauliflower
When you cry,
The crying is inevitable.
She danced,
She had understandings.
She loved
And is loved.
She’s from Peter, punk rock, a singing frog, and a final ride.
A swallowed stone of sorrow,A quick departure.
From her son,
Killing of pain,
A promise of sobriety,
A mother’s memoir.
Eucalyptus trees,
Wet bathing suits,
Fargo
and
Garth.
She’s Kool-Aid
and Pac Man,
She is.
She’s got great
Indian hair
And makes ‘Da Bomb
Fry bread!
Asking,
Wondering,
Needing
to know about
the past.
And, yes, gnomes really do exist!

So then we’ll wait until October,
When we meet again.
We’ll have more stories to tell,
So ‘til then, please know
That you
Made a difference to me.
Teachers…
Changing the world
One child
At a time.
