Ink Drawing
In order to shade in ink, there has to be a repetitive stroke of some kind and the distance
between these strokes is what creates the variation of values.
The following slides give the most common methods of shading in ink.
Hatching
A group of parallel lines that most often run in one direction only. This direction may vary in each particular area or
artwork.
Cross-Hatching
A group of intersecting parallel lines. The
direction of these lines may vary in each particular area or
artwork.
Stippling
Using dots with varied distance and thickness to create shading.
Scribbling/Zig Zagging
Using controlled scribble and zig zag marks to create
variations of dark and light.
The following artworks are excellent examples of the various shading methods.
These are the quality of work I expect from you on this assignment.
