WHAT IS STUDYING ABROAD?

Simply defined, studying abroad is a program in which students attend school in another country than their own. This can include primary, secondary and post-secondary students.

In the United States, the number of students studying abroad represents only about 1% of all students enrolled at institutions of higher education.

However, there are many students studying abroad in the United States. In 2012, 764.495 international students studied in the US. During the same time period, only 274.000 US students studied abroad.

WHY STUDY ABROAD?

There are 10 reasons for you to study abroad:

1. Study abroad is the optimal way to learn a language;

2. Study abroad provides the opportunity to travel;

3. Study abroad allows you get to know another culture first-hand;
