What is Informer?

Informer is a web based operational and informational reporting tool that extends self-service reporting and analysis capabilities by providing real-time data on-demand across database boundaries

Let’s break this sentence up a bit…Informer is a web based operational and informational reporting tool that extends self-service reporting and analysis capabilities by providing real-time data on-demand across database boundaries.

Operational Reporting– reporting about details and reflects up-to-the-second

information– used by the front-line operations personnel– supports short-term, detailed decisions– support the detailed day-to-day activities of the

organization at the transaction level

Historically, IT professionals created reports using development tools such as programming languages, and more recently with desktop design tools. Static results allowing limited data interaction were then made accessible to business users.
