Brown Bear Characteristics Brown bears weigh about 100 to 635 kilograms .Their eyes

are small. They have a sensitive nose.

Diet/Habitat

Brown bears live in Northern Eurasia and Northern America.

They often feed on a variety of plant life, including berries,

grass, flowers, acorns, pinecones as well as fungi such as

mushrooms. They also eat salmon.

Threats

Many hunters are killing them because the hunters use their

fur to make coats. Some people in china cut their paws to

make medicine .Some brown bears died because of global

warming.

How we can help

We can help by not killing them. We can also convince

people not to destroy their habitats.

Giant Panda Characteristics

The giant panda has a black and white coat. It has

distinctive black patches around its eyes, over the ears

and across its round body.

Diet/habitat

Though they are carnivores, the giant panda’s diet

is 99% bamboo. It lives in different kind of mountains.

Threats

It is threatened by continued habitat loss and very

low birth rate both in wild and in captivity.

How we can help

We should not cut and eat their paws. We should

not cut off or buy panda skin. We should protect them

as it has a very low birth rate.

White Tiger Characteristics

White Tigers generally weigh up to 300 kilogram. It can grow up to 5

metres in length. No two White Tigers have the same kinds of stripes.

This is very much like a human thumbprint.

Diet/Habitat

They live in thick and dense forest. The forest they live in can provide

them with a lot food. They are carnivores so they eat meat.

Threats

Hunters hunt the White Tigers for their fur and their fangs for

medicine.

How we can help

We can help to reduce the threats to the White Tiger population by

using other things to make jewellery and medicine. We can also raise

awareness.

Sea Otters Characteristics

Sea Otters weigh about 14 to 45 kilogram and its length is about 1 to 1.5 metre.

They are one of the smallest marine creatures. They have long sensitive

whiskers and front paws.

Diet/Habitat

Sea Otters’ diet consists mainly on slow-moving fishes such as crabs, clams and

sea urchins. They live near the northern and eastern North Pacific Ocean. They

also live near rocky sea bottoms.

Threats

Sea Otters have very valuable fur. They were hunted for their fur because

humans want to gamble with the fur.

How we can help

Humans can help sea otters by raising awareness in a campaign or internet.

We can also stop hunters from hunting them.

Giant Panda Characteristics

The Giant Panda is part of the bear family. It

weighs about 50-70 kilograms. They have a black

and white fur coat.

Diet and habitat

The Giant Panda’s natural habitat is in zoos. Its

original habitat is in the forests of China. It eats

100 kilogram of bamboo everyday in the wild.

Threats

The habitat of pandas is destroyed by humans.

Pandas reproduce very slowly. They only produce

one offspring each year.

How we can help

We can increase the area of panda habitat under

legal protection. We can also create green

corridors to link pandas.

They live in Northern Eurasia and Northern America. They

often feed on a variety of plant life including berries, grass,

Some people cut away their paws because they think it is

healthy to eat. Some brown bears die because of global

warming.

Proboscis Monkey Characteristics:

Proboscis monkeys are very cute. Have you seen one before? It has

reddish-brown fur and a tiny mouth. Proboscis monkeys have a long

nose. They have small eyes. They are also very obedient.

Diet/habitat:

The proboscis monkey lives in Indonesia, Malaysia and Borneo. In

those countries, it lives near the rivers. The proboscis monkey mainly

eats fruit and leaves. They do not often insects.

Threats:

Proboscis monkeys are threatened by chopping down trees for

houses that will destroy their habitat. Volcano erupting is very

dangerous that they may cause massive forest fire. Trading them

makes them feel homesick.

How we can help:

We can help by stopping people from chopping down trees. We can

also ask animal rescuers to bring them to a safer place. We can stop

keeping them as pets and stop capturing them.

Sea Otters Characteristics

Sea otters weight about 14 to 15 kilograms. The length of the sea otters is

about 1 to 1.5 metres long. Different sea otters have different shades of fur.

They are also one of the smallest marine animals.

Diet/Habitat

They live in the North Pacific Ocean between Asia and Australia. They eat

shellfish and also other small aquatic life animals.

Threats

People kill sea otters because they want their fur. Some people they sell the

sea otter’s fur for money. They also use fur to make coats. Other than using

the sea otter’s fur to make coats, they also use sea otter’s fur to make blankets.

How we can help

We can help the sea otters by raising awareness to everyone. We can also use

less electricity so there will be no climate change.

Other interesting facts

Did you know why that now, more than 150,000 sea otters are being protected

by law? That is because people have been killing too many sea otters. Another

interesting fact about the sea otters is did you know, that even though sea

otters can walk on land, they spend mostly their lives in the water.

Polar bears weigh around 350-700 pounds. Their height is 1-3 metres.

They have transparent fur surrounding its body. Their claws are

sharp enough to catch its prey.

Diet/Habitat

It is a carnivores animal. It eats seals and fishes and many other sea

creatures. They live in the Artic. They can only survive in cold places.

Threats

People kill them to make coats and mats to keep them warm. Global

warming makes the weather so the polar bears will die.

How we can help

We can help by spreading awareness to others to stop using polar

bears fur to keep themselves warm. They can use other materials.

We can stop pouring oil into their habitat because if they think it is

food they will eat and they may die.

They also drink honey and water. They live in Australia in

high mountains.

Threats

Hunters capture the lorikeet and trade it for money. They

keep it for pets too. Some people feed them sugar, honey or

jam that cause deaths. Lorikeet birds also do not reproduce

Diet/Habitat

They eat caribous and muskoxen. Sometimes they eat different meat. They live

in Alaska and some other places like the Arctic.

Threats

Wolves faced a high risk of extinction in the wild. They are hunted for their fine

pelt. The greatest threat to the wolf is climate change because it has reduced

their food supply. Industrial development is also a threat to the wolf as an

increasing number of territory.

How we can help

We can tell the people to stop hunting them down. We can reduce waste to

reduce global warming. We can help by educating people not to throw litter.

We can help to advocate protection areas to preserve the population.
