Successful applicants are invited to take a seat next to an ASO player for a rehearsal of selected repertoire, followed by an informal performance for families and friends. Conducted by Jim Dempsey. Strathalbyn Bands Fesval For the first me, the brass players of the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra will join concert bands from all over the state for the annual Strathalbyn Bands Fesval performing their own set as part of the program.Held over two Sundays in August, this annual fesval aracts up to 20 community bands from around the state. Sunday 3 & 10 August (ASO Brass parcipate on 10 August) Strathalbyn Town Hall Big Band Rehearsal with Jim Dempsey Brass identy and former Adelaide Symphony Orchestra player, Jim Dempsey, will lead the rehearsal of the Strathalbyn Concert Band who will join with the Goolwa Concert Band for this special rehearsal. Others are welcome to join them. This is open to all concert band instruments, not just brass and percussion. Please bring your own music stand. APPLICATION for AUDITION

Applicants must be available at the following time for the Big Brass Rehearsal

Tuesday July 22: 7 – 9:30pm, Grainger Orchestral Studio Adelaide (Big Brass Rehearsal) • (a bus will be provided from Strathalbyn Town Hall and return if there is a need)

• 7 – 10 minute auditions will be conducted by Jim Dempsey• Audition date: Sunday June 29, 2014• Audition Venue: Strathalbyn Town Hall, High Street Strathalbyn• Audition times will be allocated upon receipt of this application• Please bring a piece (or section of a piece) to play lasting no longer than 3 minutes that best

demonstrates your ability• Following the audition, you will be notified of acceptance within a week and supplied with the

appropriate instrumental part. • What we are looking for:

o A medium/advanced standard of playing (e.g. AMEB 4th Grade and above)o Good intonationo Rhythmic accuracy
