HOW Do the Nursing Programs Work?

Below you will find OMNI College’s Nursing Review Programs, itemizing what they are made up of andthe order of each component:

Canadian Nursing Review - Advanced 12 Month Program: 1. Canadian Nursing Review 2. Final Clinical Competencies Review & Nurse Licensing Exam Prep (NCLEX-RN or CPNRE) 3. Co-Op Work Experience 4. Leadership in Nursing

Canadian Nursing Review - 18 Month Program: 1. Medical Terminology & Communication 2. CELBAN Test Preparation 3. Canadian Nursing Review 4. Final Clinical Competencies Review & Nurse Licensing Exam Prep (NCLEX-RN or CPNRE) 5. Co-Op Work Experience 6. Leadership in Nursing

OMNI College is pleased to also offer a Canadian Nursing Review program for residents of Canada.

The majority of IENs will be required by the provincial nursing regulatory body to complete a clinical competencyassessment. This process differs slightly between regulatory bodies and may also have different titles.

Eg. Nursing Community Assessment Service (NCAS) or Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE)

You are only allowed one attempt. They are a 2 to 5 day assessment of the IENs, reviewing: Professional nursing knowledge, Skills, Values, Judgment, & Critical thinking

...and the ability to apply these: Safely, Competently, & Ethically under Canadian standards

Depending on how well the IEN does on the assessment it will determine how many and what kind of furtherrequirements or training they will have to fulfill before they are deemed worksafe for the Canadian workforceand be eligible to write the nursing license exam.

All IENs who are seeking initial registration / licensure to practice in a Canadian province as a Registered Nurse (RN) & Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) must first complete an application to the National Nursing AssessmentService (NNAS) *

The NNAS is a partnership of the Canadian nursing regulatory bodies *

The role of the NNAS is to streamline the application process for IENs who want to work in Canada *

The NNAS offers an easy, direct and secure way to review, authenticate, evaluate and store documents that are required by nursing regulatory bodies

It is the nursing regulatory body, not the NNAS, who will determine if you areeligible to register, or whether you need additional assessments, or if you must takeadditional courses (in addition to the training by OMNI College)

* Excluding Quebec and the Territories
