GCC / KsA: Diversification Creating Opportunities (M.1) Rising levels of disposable income spur the growth of consumer electronics. Ambitious governmental programs are targeting to diversify the 80% oil-based economy in KSA as well as in other GCC countries. What does this mean for technology companies and their supply chains targeting to capture market opportunities in the GCC? Experts such as Marcus Meissner from Camelot Consulting and Robin Philipose from Samsung will try to provide some answers to these questions.

Nigeria: Large Country, Big Opportunity!? (M.2) The opportunities for growth in Africa have never been better and, with Nigeria hosting the largest population on the continent and also having the largest GDP in sub-Saharan Africa, Nigeria’s prospects for retail and services opportunities are un-matched. According to the latest “ease of doing business” index, Nigeria is ranked at 170th place. The country continues to struggle with inadequate power issues, a poor infrastructure, security concerns and very heavy government bureaucracy. With all of these challenges there comes a multitude of opportunities for potential investors looking into this growing market; outside interest is being fueled by a talent pool of young, ambitious people and an increasingly well-educated population. For those who want to learn more about chances to succeed in Nigeria, Sim Shaga-ya and Tayo Oviosu, two entrepreneurs in the technology market, will share their views and lessons learned from their start-up business in Nigeria.

Egypt: Boost Growth in a Recovering Market (M.3) Technology companies such as Samsung, Intel, Microsoft, Oracle and many others have invested in the Egypt to strengthen their position in the MENA market to capitalize on the country’s population of 82 million, the largest in the Middle East, its growing consumption rate and increasing demand for Internet use and mobile devices. Trade agreements as COMESA provide access to additional 20 different countries in Africa. With the arabic spring, privatization drive has stalled and experts expect it will take several years to reach previous investments and growth levels. The consumer electronics market started to recover already last year after a dramatic downturn in 2013 and positive outlook remains for 2015. Attendees of this session will learn from Yasser Elnaggar, Ministry Of Investment, about most recent developments and plans to boost growth and investments in Egypt.

connecTinG TrenDs Learn more about specific trends and soLutions to boost your suppLy chain

Air freight: Market Trends and solutions (T.1) In an industry such as technology, where speed to market and obsolescence play an critical role, airfreight is an important mode of transportation to serve the different regional markets. Mid-term capacity developments and short term busi-ness seasonality are important drivers in the airfreight market. What are the latest trends and what is important for technology companies to optimize their airfreight supply chain.

Ocean freight: Challenges and solutions for the MEA supply Chain (T.2) The Middle East and Africa (MEA) region is one of the fastest growing markets in the world. The unique opportunities that this region provides also come with logistics challenges and we need to be extra-prepared to manage these. This breakout session looks into the current status of logistics in the region and some of the challenges that we should keep in mind. We also look at a few interesting solutions adopted by our customers in the region to solve some of the unique logistical challenges that the Middle East and Africa region provides.

Lead Logistics Provider: Delivering supply Chain Transformation (T.3) One thing global businesses can count on today is change – in economic conditions, in existing and emerging markets, in regulatory regimes, and in customer preferences. To create and maintain competitive advantage, then, companies must revise their supply chain strategy, and transform their supply chain processes, infrastructure, information systems, and organizational structures. To achieve this, companies are increasingly seeking collaboration in partnerships to drive this transformation in their logistics activities. Through actual customer examples and success stories, DHL will explore how a Lead Logistics Partner (LLP) can transform your supply chain and support your business ambitions at every stage of the process, from redesigning operations to providing flexible, day-to-day management control, and from stakeholder management to delivering robust, continuous improvement and innovation.

E-commerce: scenarios and solutions (T.4) Retailing is challenged by e-commerce, in particular by its facilitation of interna-tional commerce. The break-out session will provide you with insights on how this is impacting your business and how you can use it to your advantage. We would like to share with you the insights from our study “Global e-tailing 2025”. The study explores four global scenarios for the future development of international e-commerce. We will look specifically into the impact of different trends on retail structures and logistics. Next, we will provide you with specific customer examples from different regions and industries on how these organizations have successfully tackled the challenge of international e-commerce. In a dialog with you, we will then define the distinct impact and opportunities international e-commerce has for your business. Your take-away will be your ideas on how your logistics strategy can markedly broaden your market reach.

service Logistics: Leveraging new technologies (T.5) Technological innovations are all around us. How to determine which ones affect your logistics services or how to ensure you implement them properly it’s a challenge. DHL will present the latest status in technology for Service Logistics introducing a new business process to manage Sameday deliveries that uses unique methods and technology and demonstrates improved productivity and efficiency. The new Sameday Visibility Tracker provides full visibility on courier deliveries using an inte-grated routing engine combined with real-time traffic information to give better service control and real-time point-of-delivery information for your engineers. In addition, a seamless implementation of new technologies is key to drive change in business processes. We will look at recent customer cases and success factors to apply new innovations.

Innovation in Practise: Augmented Reality in Logistics (T.6) Augmented Reality (AR) will no doubt radically transform how consumers will buy and experience products in the future. However, enormous potential also lies in its applications for the enterprise. As the AR trend rapidly develops from Google Glass to the latest Microsoft Hololens, this hands-on breakout session will address the state of Augmented Reality in 2015 and explore the role of AR technologies in the supply chain. The session will be supported by Ricoh and wearable computing expert, Ubimax, providing tangible case studies and demos on ‘vision picking’ and ‘vision sorting’, as well as insights on how organizations have turned vision into reality and lessons learned.

supply Chain Resilience: A collaborative approach to managing Business Continuity (T.7) Protecting the supply chain is no longer just the role of logistics teams. Staying abreast of developing risks, understanding threats to the supplier base, and assessing potential impacts from natural disasters requires a collaborative ap-proach across the organization to ensure that, when disruptions do occur, the consequences are minimal. This session will share insights on the risks of doing business in the Middle East and Africa, and illustrate through a case study how an overarching global crisis management effort can help organizations be more secure and proactive in managing such risks. The session will also demonstrate the tools and technologies necessary to create visibility and transparency across multiple teams to ensure business continuity.

Asset Recovery: Capturing End of Life value (T.8) DHL Supply Chain engages with it customers to responsibly and sustainably de-install, acquire or consign, redeploy, resell, and recycle technology assets, allowing them to maximize revenues, reduce expenses and achieve corporate responsibility objec-tives. This has resulted in the development of high quality innovative ASSET RE-COVERY services backed up by flexible, efficient IT systems. Through our internal Enviro-solutions team and partner network we provide professional asset manage-ment services and due to the complementary nature of our propositions, we enable customers to use us as a single outsource partner for their asset recovery projects. These services reduce costs, improve returns, develop more efficient processes and ensure the highest standards of environmental compliance.

Lean & Continuous Improvement: Collaboration to drive End-to-End improvements (T.9) Nowadays everybody is looking for continuous improvement – obtaining benefits from quality and efficiency improvements plus overall cost reduction. Executed by each company individually, a Continuous Improvement strategy can be very powerful, and adopting an integrated approach can elevate results to yet higher levels. DPDHL has created THE FIRST CHOICE WAY – its own proven and robust approach to drive continuous improvement specifically in the logistics environment. During this session, we will look at a real-life case and share highlights of the joint approach, impact and lessons learned. Participants will reflect on continuous improvement practices from manufacturing and explore the potential to apply these in logistics. There will also be an opportunity to share experiences and develop further ideas on possible continuous improvement collaboration with supply chain partners.

Multi-modal: finding the Right Mix of Transport Combinations (T.10) Economical and ecological trends suggest a strategy which combines different transportation modes in a smart way. This interactive break out session discusses the needs for Multimodal transportation and its advantages for an efficient end to end transport flow. The seamless E2E integration of modes and its visibility along these global supply chains are critical success factors. This sessions provides new concepts that are developing to cover growing markets and shipping behavior changes e.g. flexibility to change shipping plans easy, covering all shipment sizes from parcel up to container load, 2B&C deliveries, identify alternative routes and gateways.

Inventory financing: Leveraging Physical supply-Chains to Generate financial value (T.11) Supply Chain optimization today is very focused on the reduction of operating costs and more and more also focused on the reduction of working capital. This session will explore innovative options for removing current assets from the bal-ance-sheet or turning them into cash - quicker and at better value. We will take a step back to look at your companies’ overall financial priorities and key solutions available to satisfy those priorities. We will explore how to combine state of the art inventory financing and ownership solutions with best practices in supply chain management.
