PREFACE

It is often heard o f that ‘Destiny cannot be checked’ and that is why; perhaps, nothing could save our beloved son Ramanuj Gupta (Raja) from the hands o f inevitable destiny. He left fo r heavenly abode on 14th November, 1997 on account o f sudden and severe cardiac failure at the age o f 23 years only. Inspite o f being aware o f the saying o f Shakespeare ’ All that live must die ” his departure from amongst us has created a great vacuum which would never be filled up. Still we have consoled and comforted ourselves by resting our faith on the maxim ‘whom the Gods love, die young ’.

In fact, Ramanuj had all the qualities o f head and heart. He was gentle, honest, sensitive, selfless, obedient and accommodating. His heart always cried fo r the poor and the needy. He possessed a very special knack fo r science subjects and thereby he comfortably passed Computer Engineering from B.I.T. Bangalore obtaining 1st class marks. He was going to join Motoralla Group o f Companies but death departed him from all that he had. Above all, he was in love with poetry and he also spilt ink to write quite a good number o f poems.

During his brief span o f life, he always wanted to make his services available fo r the society in which he lives. Ramanuj had his dreams and vision. In order to make his dreams a reality, we have taken the initiative to setup “Ramanuj Gupta Memorial Charitable Trust”. The main objective o f the Trust is ‘Service to the poor with potentialities The Trust believes it heart and soul that ‘God loveth a cheerful give ’. The maiden venture o f the Trust was the establishment o f one full-fledged Science College here at Silchar, situated in the southern part o f Assam. The college is known as “Ramanuj Gupta Junior college o f Science and Arts” and a high school named as “Ramanuj Vidyamandir”. A good number o f renowned educationists and veteran teachers o f this town have been extending their helping hands in all possible ways to make both this project a great success.

We will also not willingly forget the generous doners who have stood beside us in order to translate the dreams o f our lost son Ramanuj into practice. It would be a matter o f great consolation fo r us i f all o f you extend your co-operation and help to us in the coming days too.

Ramanuj is no more with us but in the words o f Tennyson, ‘he seems so near and yet to fa r ’

and that very feeling o f nearness perhaps inspires us to do something which would give rest and peace to the departed soul o f our beloved son.

RAMANUJ GUPTA MEMORIAL CHARITABLE TRUST

A philanthropic organization was formed under the patronage of Dr. Rahul Gupta to perpetuate the memory of his late lamented son Ramanuj Gupta who met the tragic end of his life at the prime of his youth.

THE AIMS AND OBJECTIVES:

The Aims and objectives of the Institution will be to impart education through intensive teaching followed by periodical assessment.

THE MODE OF TEACHING:

The mode of teaching and administration will be different from the stereotyped ones and will be designed to derive maximum benefit by the students and thereby enabling them to be disciplined and self-confident to face other competitive examinations.

THE TEACHING SECTOR:

In the teaching sector, it will be a blending of the experiences gained through decades by the persons of repute in the respective field and the energy and dedications of the young new entrants.

GENERAL GUIDE LINES

1. ADMISSION :

a) The Process of Admission will start immediately on announcement of Annual Examination results and as per the date notified by the School authority.

b) Students will be admitted on the basis of their merit.

c) Students securing less then a certain percentage of marks in the Admission Test are NOT ELIGIBLE to apply for Admission.

d) Admission Form along with PROSPECTUS can be obtained from the School Office during working hours on payment of requisite fee.

e) Presence of parents / guardians along with the students is a must at the time of Admission.

f) Students must abide by the schedule of Admission. The schedule of Admission etc. will be notified on the School Notice Board.

Facilities extended by “Ramanuj Gupta Memorial Charitable Trust” :

Poor but meritorious students with very high percentage of marks and having a strong bent of mind to pursue higher education will be considered for monetary help by the “Ramanuj Gupta Memorial Charitable Trust”.

2. ADMISSION FEES :

• Admission fees and Annual Charges will have to be paid at the time of Admission. The details will be notified in the School Notice Board.

• The monthly tuition fees should be deposited in the UCO Bank (G.C. College Branch), College Road, Silchar or in any branch of ICICI Bank, Silchar.

3. DOCUMENTS REQUIRED FOR ADMISSION:

Students are directed to enclose the copies of the following documents along with the Application Form for Admission and produce the Original copies at the time of Admission for verification.

6. SCHOOL EMPHASIS :

i ] With a view to enhance the creativity and to energize the natural inquisitiveness of students the school authority has introduced Arts and Crafts classes combined with work experience. To overcome stress and to improve the general physical fitness and health of the students school authority has decided to start Yoga classes. All these newly included subjects would be fully operational under the active guidance of professional teachers and experts in the line.

Periodical knowledge should be coupled with practical usage and skills which rationalised the scientific quest o f the students. School authority therefore would render special emphasis on practical classes, assignments, symposium etc. covering both science and humanities subjects.

ii] Guardian must ensure sending their ward (s) at least 15 minutes prior to incipient of school hours. However the school hour / timing would remain the same through out the session except for any special cause or unavoidable reasons, which as and when necessary would be officially intimated.

7. SCHOOL EXAMINATIONS :

Unit Test, Mid-Term Examination & Term-End Examinations are carried out by the School as per the Examination Schedule issued to the students at the beginning of the session along with the Class Routine. A Merit Register is maintained to record the score of the students in all the above examinations. A student is required to score a minimum mark in the subjects as decided by the School Authority from time to time to justify his / her progress of studies in the subjects. An overall assessment of the performance of a student in the whole session and in all the examinations is made by the School Authority before declaring a student eligible for promotion. Students whose academic progress, thus evaluated, found unsatisfactory are detained.

8. ATTENDANCE :

a. Regular attendance is must for each and every student.

b. Non-Attendance of classes by the students is viewed seriously by the School Authority and actions as deem fit will be taken against the defaulting students.

c. Unless a student attends a minimum number of classes as fixed by the School Authority he / she will not be allowed to appear in the Annual Examinations.

d. Any student found absent from school for consecutive 3 weeks (21 days) without any written information to the school may deem to lose his / her seat in the school. In that case the guardian will be solely liable for it.

9. TEACHING DAYS :

The academic calendar will be designed with the aim of having maximumnumbers of working days as far as practicable. A copy of holiday list togetherwith the Examination Schedule will be handed over to every student.

10. DISCIPLINE:

Great emphasis is laid on discipline and character building of students.

a. A sense of pride and discipline will be maintained at all levels by the students' inside and outside the School Campus.

b. Students co-operation is solicited for keeping School Campus clean and tidy.

c. If any property / equipment in the Campus is damaged, the loss caused to the Institution shall be recovered.

d. Students found indulging in any sort of immoral activities or act prejudicial into the interest of the school within or even outside the school campus would be very severely taken to task as per rules and provisions laid down

by the Managing Committee of the School, which may even tantamount to periodical suspension or formal rustication from the school.

e. The negative tendencies in a student like bunking school, speaking lies, fighting, bullying others, using foul language, damaging school property, scribbling on desk/bench and walls will lead to severe disciplinary action by school authorities. The student will be counseled for the first offence. Subsequent lapses will entail disciplinary action.

f. Student must not bring cell phones or any type of electronic gadgets into the school. Anyone doing so will be strictly dealt with.

g. Students must be punctual and make it a point to come to school daily before the warning bell of the Assembly.

h. Students are required to treat teachers and all members of the staff, teaching and non-teaching, with respect and politeness.

11. IDENTITY CARD:

a. Students must always carry their Identity Card issued by the School Authority, while in School or outside and should produce it on demand.

b. Identity Cards must be renewed by the students when the validity period of the card issued to them is over.

12. SCHOOL UNIFORM:

a. Wearing of School Uniform is must for each and every student of the School. The Colour and design of the Uniform may be noted from the School Notice Board.

b. Every student must put on clean and correct uniform everyday. Any student who comes to school without proper uniform or whose uniform is untidy or ill-fitting will not be allowed to attend the classes.

c. Ornaments and jewelley of any make are totally banned in the school.

13. NOTICE BOARD:

a. Guardians / Students are advised to read carefully all the relevant notices regarding Admission, Attendance, Examinations, Extra-curricular activities and other matters displayed, on the School Notice Board and act accordingly.

b. The School accepts no responsibility for the loss of any advantage by a student on account of his / her failure to read notices.

14. For Guardians:

a. Parents / Guardians are earnestly requested to extend their active co-operation to the School Authority.

b. They are requested to acquaint themselves with the progress of their wards & accordingly meet the PRINCIPAL / ADMINISTRATIVE OFFICER periodically.

c. Admission in the school implies, that the both parents and students must abide by the rules and regulations of the school.

d. General communication with parents / guardians is done through the school diary or notices. Therefore it is very essential for the parents / guardians to go through the school diary on a regular basis and sign the remarks made by the principal or teachers.

e. Parents / Guardians should inform the school authority whenever there is a change in their address or telephone numbers.

f. Parents / Guardians should take utmost care in regard to their child / children's uniform, socks, shoes, in short his / her overall dress up.

15. EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES:

Different types of extra-curricular activities are conducted in the schoolthroughout the year to help the students to showcase their talents in variousfields apart from academics and also help in all-round personality development.

16. INFRASTRUCTURE:

LIBRARY:

The school library is extremely well resourced and contains reference books and resources. Our library also has a varied range of fiction and the books caters to all age groups and reading levels.

COMPUTER LAB:

The school has a fully equipped computer laboratory with 18 computers. These are used for the teaching of computing to all the students from class III onwards.

SCIENCE LAB:

The school has a science laboratory which is equipped with the modem equipments to allow students to develop their skills in practical science and to learn scientific theories through their own experimentation.

L.C.D. TELEVISIONS :

Nursery and K.G. classes are equipped with large screen L.C.D. monitors for audio-visual aid, so that apart from being informative learning is fun as well as entertaining.

C.C. T.V. :

The school campus is round the clock under C.C. T.V. surveillance for security and safety reasons.

WHITE BOARD :

All the class rooms are equipped with big white boards thus making the rooms free of chalk dust.

SOUND SYSTEM:

Every room is equipped with a speaker as part of the sound system which makes possible addressing the whole school at the same time.
