From the Desk of the Vice‐Chancellor
Gujarat University is yet again geared up for the new edition of online admission for the various science colleges of Ahmedabad city. The exercise of online admission has been highly successful in the admissions of various other streams and it has also brought desired outcomes for the first year B.Sc. admission in the science colleges of Gujarat University.
It has been witnessed that there is a sudden influx of students seeking admission in science colleges and the University has to make the stupendous efforts to meet the increasing demands of the admission seekers. The colleges also have to stretch its capacity to the maximum to cope up with the extra pressure. Gujarat University has experimented with the online admission in science colleges and has received accolades from all sections of society.
The online admission indicates one of fair practices in the arena of higher education. The online admission brings dual advantages to the students. With its clear emphasis on merit, the admission process becomes transparent and students' friendly. The students with the higher merit get the precedence in the merit list and get their dues. The admission process also follows the reservation policy as per the norms of the govt. of Gujarat and thus giving equal opportunities to all the sections of society. In addition to this, the students do not have to make rounds to different colleges and stand in the queue at the various locations in Ahmedabad. They are guaranteed the admission in the college of their choice, as per their merit marks. The online admission follows the single window policy making the admission process free from red tape.
Gujarat University as the biggest university in Gujarat always takes the leadership in promoting the use of technology in various aspects of higher education and the online admission promises to be the efficient use of technology for the benefits of the students’ community. I must congratulate the principals of various science colleges in Ahmedabad for showing tremendous faith in the various endeavors of Gujarat University.
