5th and final infographic celebrating 5 years of TEDxAmsterdam As volunteers and partners from the very first day of TEDxAmsterdam we set out to create something special, coinciding the 5 year anniversary of the inspiring event. With Schwandt Infographics we crafted the concept for an infographic and researched all the data. Oliver de Leeuw has been editor-in-chief for two years and in 2013 he decided to focus solely on the live reporting during TEDxAmsterdam on 6 November. For this special occasion he thought it would be nice to create content that spreads very easily – just like the best ‘Ideas Worth Spreading’. And what better way than to make the first TEDxAmsterdam infographic? After crafting an initial setup after several brainstorm with a young graphic designer, Schwandt Infographics came along to make a professional version. In the entire process, we performed and coordinated the data collection needed as input for the designers, and gave feedback on many alterations of the design. The idea to split the infographic in 5 parts, one for each year of TEDxAmsterdam, existed quite early. But the structure and type of information did not allow for a year-by-year comparison in all cases: for example, we only started the Ideas Worth Doing program in 2010. So we kept the idea of making 5 infographics and decided to spread them during the 5 days before TEDxAmsterdam 2013. On the event day, we will show the infographic in its full size on the web – and on the stage! Extra remarkable is the final part of the infographic, as it included the name of this year’s Ideas Worth Doing Award winner.
