These are enjoyed by many and have provided not only exceptional dinners, but also a time of connecting with each other. We are enlisting the help of our Fellowship Families and the elders and deacons are making the calls for workers. It amounts to working 1-2 hours 2-3 times a yr. It doesn’t sound like much and yet it is not always easy to get the help needed. Please consider signing up on the volunteer list at the info desk and also saying yes to helping out if you are called. Thank you! As our program year kicks off there are many opportunities to serve here at Faith. We have many different jobs that require a variety of gifts. If you feel led to serve in any way, please contact Jeff or Rachel. We would be glad to share more opportunities of what we have. Thanks! We are excited about the new things that are going to be happening in Middle School Ministries this year! Our time together would be even better if we had another person, or another couple, who was interested in serving on our team. We meet Wednesday nights 6:15-7:45, 2-3 times a month. Part time volunteering could also work. Consider helping on our 12 lesson nights, or on our 6 community building nights. For more info, talk to Jeff Schipper or Sonya Snyder. We’d love to have you! Additional Announcements The next food offering for My Brothers House 1 will be collected on Sunday, September 12. We will also celebrate communion on that Sunday. Ushering Help: We will be needing additional ushers in the upcoming winter months to cover our snow birds. Please contact Susan Harkema or Kari Slenk if you would be willing to help. Thanks! The first Early Risers' Bible Study is September 16, 8:30 A.M. at the Outlet. All seniors are welcome as we begin studying the book of Acts. As usual we go to Russ' South for breakfast after Bible Study. Programs happening this Fall at Faith

• Faith Dinners will begin this Wednesday Sept. 9, 5-6:30pm (Our first 2 dinners will be Sept. 9 & Sept. 23, and then will run weekly through Dec. 2). Menu for Sept. 9: Spaghetti, garlic bread, Caesar salad, dessert and of course pizza!

• Wednesday Night Ministries: Gems, Cadets and MSM will begin this Wednesday, Sept. 9 at 6:15pm.

• Kick-off for Sunday programs: Sunday School, Catechism and Youth Group will be Sunday, Sept. 13.

My Brothers’ House 1 have had their food assistance reduced by 70-90%. This has produced a great

deal of financial strain on the house. Faith has decided to help our brothers by taking a food offering

on the first Sunday of the month (communion Sundays) for a while to help them in their need. The idea

is that as Christ has fed us at his table, so now we feed others. If you desire, please bring an item or

two from the list below. These items will be brought forward to the communion table at the end of the

service next week. Thanks for your willingness to partner with our brothers in Christ. Pastor Chad

MISSIONARY UPDATE Jeff & Lisa Boehm Update Hi Faith CRC friends, We want to send a thank you to you and through you for our brothers and sisters at Faith CRC. We treasure the times that we spend with you, and as we get resettled in Bangkok it's reassuring to know that you are behind us, encouraging, praying for and supporting us. Thank you for hosting a potluck for us and for the genuine interest that you show in our ministry in Thailand. And thank you for giving generously to God's work here! Regarding the recent bombings in Bangkok, we are fortunate that no one we know was injured. Please pray that many will turn to the Prince of Peace in the midst of the insecure anxiety here in our megacity. We drove by the main bomb site, Erawan Shrine, on Sunday and it was full of people offering incense to the idols there!

FAITH IN ACTION Today

MISSIONARY UPDATE

Zach & Sharon Segaar-King Update Dear Friends and Family: In our last e-mail update we mentioned the text from Psalm 63 which the Psalmist writes, “O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you, my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water.” Today Haiti is a much less thirsty land since last Friday’s arrival of Tropical Storm Erika. While we give thanks for these rains, we are sad to learn that several lives were lost and a number of homes and roads were destroyed in the area of Montrouis (north of Port-au-Prince) by flash floods. Unfortunately, Haiti still needs more rain to break the multi-year drought. We have several special requests for prayer: 1. A safe trip to the Dominican Republic for several of World Missions-Haiti staff members. They will be receiving training in a youth ministry technique called Impact Clubs. 2. Pray for Fevrier Cherubin, a key World-Missions-Haiti staff member who was nearly electrocuted as he plugged his laptop in. The shock threw him to the ground, pulling his shoulder out of joint and fractured his collarbone. Please pray for his rehabilitation. 3. Pray for the CRC of Haiti as we work to restart ministry with the committee charged with the administration of denomination for the next ten months. Please see our blog for more details on this important request. 4. Restarting of church construction projects in the areas of Saltadere and Ounamenthe. We give thanks for: 1. Safety during Tropical Storm Erika which hit Haiti last week. Despite heavy rains, we remained more or less dry. 2. A good start to the school-year for our children. Please pray that they will adapt to new teachers. 3. Safety during August’s first-round of parliamentary elections. The next round of elections will be held on Oct. 25. These elections could be more tempestuous as they will decide the presidency in addition to the final form of the parliament. Pray especially for security and calm. FOR MORE PICTURES, STORIES, AND INFORMATION ABOUT OUR MINISTRY AND FAMILY, PLEASE SEE OUR BLOG AT segaarking.blogspot.com Thanks for your prayers and support, Zachary, Sharon, Hannah, Vivian, Isaiah and Esther Segaar-King Missionaries to Haiti through Christian Reformed World Missions
