Cause * bovine herps virus

-it is highly infectious disease of cattle & buffaloes*ch` clinically by:

- rhinotracheitis -conjunctivitis- fever -encephalitis -abortion

***highly fatal in calves less than 2 weeks of age

Clinical signs: 1-respiratory form:

● fever (40-42 c) , shallow rapid respiration ● persistant cough & dyspnoea

● serous to mucopurulent nasal discharge● hyperemia & hemorrhagic focal necrosis of nasal mucosa

2-occular form:● bilateral conjunctivitis ( congestion & swelling )

● keratoconjunctivitis – corneal opacity (at corneo- sclearal junction)

● serous to mucopurulent occular discharge 3-enteric form (in newly born calves) ● fever , anorexia , dullness...............etc

● erosion & ulceration of oral cavity ● diarrhea

4 -abortion in 5-9 month of pregnancy5 -encephalitis ( in calves less than 6 month of age) → in

co-ordination , excitment , bellowing , convulsion & blindness

6-infectious valvo-vaginitis (IPV) 7 -infectious pustular balanopothitis(IPB)

Treatment Broad spectrum antibiotic & symptomatic

treatment for the respiratory signsVaccination

a-modified live attinuated vaccine: -contraindicated in pregnant animal ( cause abortion )

- given by I/M injection - given to calves at 6 m` of age

b-killed vaccine: -avilable in combination with PI3 , B.V.D & resp.synctial virus

- given to calves → I/M → 2 dose ( 5 ml in each dose) → 2 weeks interval
